Whats your worst car dealership experience!

I hate car shopping! I am pretty sure everybody hates car shopping! Occasionally you come across a kind car salesman who is actually trying to help you find a car and get a good deal. Most of the time its some trashy felon just trying to rip you off for every last dime you own. The wife and I arrive at some Toyota dealership to buy a car we saw on auto trader. We drove over 500 miles to buy this car.... We find it, test drive it, and love it! I told the car salesman I need to talk with my wife, the moron walks maybe five feet away lol trying to listen in on our conversation. I ask him to leave us alone so we can talk again, he just starts circling around us. Literally five feet away circling around us. Wtf is that? I end up blowing up on the guy. Car salesman 1 goes bye bye and out comes car salesman number 2! We try to test drive the again just to make sure she loves it. Car salesman 2 says "we can let you do that sir, because we feel like your not a serious buyers and we will need to put a $500 deposit down on the car to drive it again!" My wife blows up on car salesman 2! Outcomes car salesman number 3! We test drive it and decide to go inside and run numbers. We found the car on auto trader for $29950. Car salesman 3 comes out with a lovely price tag of $45, 950! We show him their ad on auto trader, he feels stupid and comes back with another cool $32950 and some excuse they can't sell it for $29950. Wife explodes again, out comes car salesman 4! We ended up agreeing on $29k. Finally, finance and time to leave! We get into finance and the finance manager was like "oh yeah we got you approved up to $40 grand on a five year loan with an interest rate of 19%! But if you take the extended warranties and the gap insurance we can drop it to 1.99%!" GRRR!!

Yeah.. We ended up telling them we would like to drive it for the night just to make sure its for us. They filled the gas tank for us. Yup. We put 250 miles on the rig and left it with an empty gas tank. Screw them!

Whats your worst car buying experience lol?

Hmm never really had a bad care buying experience - when the guy seems clueless, I have dropped him.

And they dont sell me a car...I sell them a deal and they take :thumb:...yeah I sell

I love stealerships! Go there once a while to test drive their cars and abuse the hell out of them. Have hella fun doing it too. I also love how nice they are too me too. They think i'm there to buy a car..... lol

New cars= waste of money.

Save yourself some money and buy a used car. Most people don't like the idea of used since they don't know much about cars. If your a car nerd like me you know exactly which car has been well taken care of and which ones were not.

the only reason to go into a dealership is that you have already worked out the #'s and compared it with the other local dealerships. either they can do it and you buy it or they can't and you leave. no sense listening to their sales pitch

MM78 02-06-2013 10:54 PM

Car Dealership? whats that? lol... I've only bought used cars my whole life.

AmazonStealth 02-06-2013 11:04 PM

You should have everything figured out ahead of time. Something tells me you are a difficult customer....

So it's your picture I see with the title "Do no Allow on the Lot"

I always get the lame/usual stealership experience when I'm buying, but the best story I've heard from a friend of a friend.

Microsoft bought his company for a decent chunk of change ($20M+ cash). He was fairly young and always wanted a Dodge Viper. So one day he goes into the dealership to look at one on display. Sure enough, he couldn't get service and when he finally did, they weren't taking him seriously. I guess because it's their most expensive car, the salesmen think it's like a crown jewel and nobody in the world can afford it.

Anyways, the salesmen were teaming up and practically making fun of him because he was dressed normally, would need considerable money down, prob can't afford it, etc etc. He was more or less going to pay "cash" too. Furious, he just darts out of there and hits up the Porsche dealership. He ends up getting a brand new 911 Turbo. A few days later still feeling bitter, he goes to the GM dealership to get his back tires rotated and waves at the salesmen...

Classic.

Many years ago ordered a new car, told me they would call when it was done.

30 days later they called and said the car is in house to come pick up.

Went to pick up and one of the salesman sold the car by mistake and the "other" owner had already taken it home.

Idiot did not check VIN or anything to see that the car was an ordered car and was already sold.

They said we will get the car back.

Called and said we have your car here.

Went to pick it up and it was one stinking interior. Chain smoker ruined the car and I told them you might as well order me another one because I wont take this.

Best deal is on a 3 year old car. Already heavily depreciated but still runs almost good as new

I just had a worse experience. Found another car off auto trader. Called the dealership to make sure it was still there, yessirr it is still here! We drove 350 miles there to buy it. We arrive on the lot the salesman tells me it was just sold. >.> A common tactic used by car salesman, get them on the lot no matter what and push them onto another car. I was goofing off with another who said the car sold two weeks ago. ^.- Fml

And I usually buy cars off craigslist but this is our first time buying a nice brand new car and I want to give it to my wife as a present. So far no luck :(.

So agree.

Had an arrangement with a local company for 5 new autos for our company.

Going to be on a lease ( tax purposes). Dealership was on what is 'auto alley'.

Go to the yard driving our beat-up wheels. ( spare auto that was over due for the scrap heap). Park in a designated space.

Walking to the office with the check book . Walk past 2 'smart' salesmen. One says 'who owns that heap of ..... should be put off the road'.
Face dropped when I said that's mine. And your comment just cost the company a deal. Left there and went to the BMW dealership instead.
Ford never know when they are on a good thing. LOL

yotano211 02-08-2013 08:19 PM

Same thing happened to my friend who owns a security company. He used to buy nothing but Ford.

He was about to replace 10 Ford focus for his company. He takes his old Ford early 1980s F150 to the dealership. He parks in one of the customer parking spaces, I go with him so I know what happened.

We both walk pass 3 sales guys who never even said "good morning", at least one of them gave us eye contact. We both walk up to the General Manager who at this point was furiuos that so many sales people let potential customers walk in without any help. My friend told the GM "dont bother to help us, we are not buying here if you guys can't even say good morning to anyone".

On the way back, we both saw one of the sales guy picking off some rust off of the back of his old truck. He loves his old truck, so that was the last straw. He went back to the GM, started telling him his idea of buying 10 cars, cash, for his security company, the rude sales people, and the one person picking the rust from his beloved truck.

The GM called all 3 sales guys over to us and fired all 3 in front of us. He didn't care about it, after that, we both walked across the street to the Toyota dealership while his old truck was still parked at Ford. Some 3 hours later he walked back across to Ford to show the GM the amount he spent on his invoice, over $220,000, paid by check. He is much happier with his small fleet of Toyota cars vs the Ford ones.

About 1 year later, there was 1 less Ford dealership in Vegas, the same one that ignored us, closed down.

@DrYoshi

Sounds a carbon copy of how they operate here.

Customer does not count? Sorry, auto buying customer does.

Used to have a 4 x 4 Hilux. Model imported into Australia had no tachometer. Bugged me no end because I keep tally of miles.

Went to a Toyota dealership in a country town. Got the beast serviced. Made a comment about the lack of tachometer.
2 months later, got a phone call from them. Hey, we imported tachometers for other customers. We have a spare one for you if you like. Which I did.
Result for that dealer was referring friends to upgrade their autos.
Service counts
:pop2:

yotano211 02-08-2013 08:47 PM

Wow, that is expert service.

And Dr. Yoshi is in the house, accepting new patients, women only apply, esp. aussie ones.
