Uline is the Creme de la Creme of boxes. What do you mean by nicer? Colors? Heavy duty?

Personally I like reusing boxes when I can. It's good for the planet and my wallet

All i meant by nicer were boxes that weren't used before.

That is why i reuse boxes up to now, it's good for everyone but starting my own website and don't think it will look right. Trying to think of a way around it without sounding 'cheap'.

When I have bought plain brown shipping boxes before I just got a batch of 10 or 25 right off ebay. The quality was decent enough. Though some dealers had better product than others in terms of strength. That matters if your items are heavy/fragile.

Maybe just first get the one size you use most often in a minimal quantity to see if you like it.

I source my boxes from china. They are similar to that of what I have purchased from uline (hard to screw up boxes) but much cheaper. You really have to buy enough of them for it to be worth your while to source from china. I imagine those packaging sellers on Ebay are sourcing from china.

I have a person who puts me a nice pile of boxes all sizes beside the dumpster at a local dollar store. Dollar store used to dump all boxes into the dumpster and got smart and recycle them all now.

She text me to let me know that she left me some boxes beside the dumpster and when to get them before the trash man shows up.

Slip her a 20 once in a while really helps with the free well made boxes.

If you know someone who works in a place like this see if you can work a deal with them.

I just placed an order to try out some 12X6X4 from 12 - 16 inch Shipping and Moving Boxes . Even with shipping they are slightly less expensive then my local supplier and they they are closer to the size of the item.

I find boxes are too expensive on eBay. Poly bubble mailers and Kraft bubble mailers are a good buy though.

I like free boxes.

I have enough free boxes from the USPS to last me years.

Piled higher then I stand.

I also get plenty of free ones from dollar store.

Here is another neat trick to share.

I find free boxes on CL. People dont want to mess with them after they move into a home and if they dont have a trash pickup that allows a huge pile theyy will list them as curb alert on CL.

Only issue is I wont take any of these boxes home. Too afraid of bugs etc so I take them to one of my storage sheds and use them.

I get a ton of boxes this way and if I am going that way I will grab them, take the ones I want and leave the rest for someone who can use them.

SlimJim - First of all if you get a newer box, how will customers know when it arrives all beat up and smashed up anyways?

Seriously, I've got boxes myself that look like they were in a time machine during world war 1 & 2 also the 3rd and 4th then sent back too me in 2012!

And just for kicks, next too me here in Germany every week all business throw away boxes!!!! By the 1000's I just stare and think "OMG IF I COULD ONLY SELL THIS CRAP 2ND HAND BUT I DON'T THINK ANYONE WOULD BUY" Then you post you sell with used boxes? UMMM lol.

I'd do the china stuff everyone is talking about but how to tell they won't rip you off or send you cheap stuff???

Sure the samples might be GREAT but the other stuff?

Sandy if you were near me in Lux I could hook you up with so many boxes for FREE!! Heck I would tell you where it's at!!!! I mean 1000's!!!

You talk about 1 store lol try 100 and 20 of them being BIG stores 4 floors!!!! Stop day dreaming girl!!!! lol. You arn't here! Those boxes be mine for now! :P But I have no use for those so yeah! If I had a bigger place I would go grab them and store them away!

They do. Its always like all the crap from China. It will be stamped 200lbs. test box but you know when you feel how flimsy it is there is no way thats a real crush test number.

Take a 200lbs Uline box and a 200lbs Chinese box - worlds apart. But hey, if the stuff you send will survive in a Chinese box then go for it and save the cash. Yes I know its like supporting fraud but as MM78 says `watcha gonna do?`

@ motts applesauce or soap in big letters! LOLLLLL

I can just picture customer gets package, picks it up, big hole at the bottom, sees on the box their address and on the box reading "Made In China".

Funny thing is, have you gotten stuff from China where the box was so bad they just wrap the whole outside of it a million times over with brown packaging tape.

And then I said no way not buying from you guys ever again, they said that they would send me 500 ipods if I want and make sure no one will switch it! lol Just for that. I told them I would order 1,000 and told them I sent the money at western union with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ number and code lol!!! kept them going for 2 weeks like that! lol

By the end of the week I know where to get some free boxes.

MM puts the trash out on Saturday morning.

We can all get free boxes if you do not mind some pizza sauce on them.

Better yet, use your suppliers boxes, just to see if they catch on!

It's a very good way to manipulate people! I just gave someone out there a great idea!
