Gift cards cashing out.

I have some gift cards only the numbers. I don't have the physical card. Anyway i can use them at walmart or some other store and then return an item and get cash back? Somebody who has done this share.

You won't be able to get cash refund on something you paid credit for

That's not true. Be careful giving advice when you don't know for FACT!

While most companies will refrain from giving cash out, Roscoe is correct - not 100% in all cases...some give gift cards too :)

Incorrect if you dont have your receipt  and take something back to Wal mart they will either put it on a wal mart card or in "some" cases for me just a lazy clerk handed me cash.

But that's specific to Walmart... of course

Done it at Kohls and Best Buy as well. Even though it was their own cards I was able to get cash several times.

I'm just going by policy, not a few lazy workers. Money back to your card or store credit, period!

Who's policy?

Some stores have very generous policies, others are very tight.

In many cases a store will give you Cash back afer a certain period of time, usually 14 - 30 days. Many stores will only give you the lowest price that product has sold for in the last 30-90 days.

So, if you paid $100 3 months ago, but it was on sale for $70 a month ago, you'll only get $70 + tax. I've done it many times.

Kohls and a few other stores can be very Liberal with their return policies. I've seen Kohls bend over backwards to keep a customer happy.

Dont think so, I have got cash back for many years doing this a far more places.

You just have to learn how to do it.

Can be done if done correctly, timed correctly and you know what you are doing.

Someone who has done this share PLEASE... :boink:

Going to depend on the amount, your attitude to the clerk at the shop and luck.

Try this with an attitude and prepare to have no luck.

Select your store and proceed carefully. Thoroughly check their regulations.
Do not approach this half baked. Can you explain in a civil manner why you have no card? If not, think of Plan D

Good Luck

I buy the cards from people online and they sell me there gift card. I don't want ipads, ipods, home stereos, I want cash! (lol). So hard to get cash these days (Yes, I know about withdrawing, but I don't want that). Paypal loves me spending, not withdrawing.

I'm not sure what your volume is but if you are willing to do it slowly and spread out your amounts you can do it safely sign up for: Square, PayAnywhere and GoPayment, they all let you key in CCs numbers like you are taking an order over the phone, and the money gets deposited to your account in 24 hours. But remember, you have to spread your amounts across all accounts and make it seem like you are taking payments, do not empty the whole gift card in one transaction. I've cleared a couple of cards doing this, they charge a slightly higher % for non swiped transactions. For cards that you can get your hands on find out if your bank can cash them for you, Chase does and that's what I do. Good luck! http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smile...ney-909335.gif

I have some experience with this and YES you must do light amounts and rarely. The moment a company (like Square) gets a sniff that you're main activity is cashing out gift cards, they WILL close you out.
