What the heck, legit way to make cash?

Yo you know when certain products go on sale at retail stores like macys and sears and bestbuy, any store for that matter. (online or local sales doesnt matter)

Do any of you guys take advantage of these sales, not for use but to make some money by reselling?

Check this out for example

Belgian Waffle Maker: Waffle Iron for Home-Cooked Treats from Sears

this belgium waffle make is on sale for 17 bucks..

and people have sold this for 30-50 bucks on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...at=0&_from=R40

^ completed listings.

Now I'm not sure if you can make a full time job, or maybe you can if you have the right eye like I know sandy D here does something like this for craigslist/ garage sales thrift shop kinda stuff.

But just wondering if this stuff is legit and if you guys do this?

100HRWEEK 04-22-2013 12:32 AM

The dead give away for me on this is "15 completed listings". It's just a slow selling item. Sure you might make $10 on one sale, but then when is the next sale coming? Maybe next month. You'll make $100 a year at most. Volume should be at least decent, meaning you should be able to at least push a few a day, or at most a week.

Gamefreak 04-22-2013 03:51 AM

I do this on a lot of items. I monitor sales everyday and if something good comes up i will go clean out the store if I have the cash.

When sears was having a blowout sale they had stuff at 90% off. I mean fast moving stuff. Cleaned up that time.

LOL

Sears--- I hit it often too.

DH stopped like he ran into a wall walking through Sears towards the Cafe Court. He said, OMG those toll boxes are 75.00 boxes on sale for 30.00. We need to grab some of them. We did a quick search on ebay and they were selling at a high rate and for 59.99 to 85.00 range. So we took the entire stack.

I also hit the outlet stores. Adidas and Under Armour had some crazy sales a few weeks ago.

In my area both Wal Mart and the Dollar Stores deal in local specific type of items and I sell a ton of those items.

So yes Maria, research and being at the right store at the right time you can make a buck here and there.

My 14 year old knows the kids fashions well and hits the Rue21 stores for herself of course but then turns around and buys on sale boots and puts them on her own stealth account and makes 20.00 a pop over and over until those boots are gone.

oompaloompa 04-22-2013 04:21 AM

the big stores in UK, do this all the time, and there is money to be made, but alot of competition, plenty of people know about this for ebay..often you find the stuff is sold out in your area...

rsot 04-22-2013 05:51 AM

I dont have much time to be hitting the stores like this for sales but I try when I can here and there

If I find anything that might move on ebay, I will look at selling it, certainly.

Here in Australia, a rather cheap dime store has closed a few premises. For a reasonable outlay, I managed to buy items that I can sell on ebay later for feedback on new accounts.

Thorough my work, I also got several dozen lots of t-shirts. I'll store them until next Summer.

What I am also happy about is having receipts for the purchases.

Dang it GB you are getting in on my action at the dollar stores.

Those receipts are worth their weight in gold.

I hit a Kohls Dept store often.

They have a coupon if you have an email they can send it to for 20-40% off. And surely I found a few emails I could use.

Went in looking for daughter some items, walked down the aisle and in the middle was a huge clearance rack, had name brand clothing from many celebs on them. 50% off rack!!!

Asked if I can use a coupon for these items. Yes, but one coupon per customer/purchase.

Grabbed one item took it to the counter and handed her the 40% of coupon. Of course the eyes got big and words came out like, sorry you cannot have 90% of an items original price. I said I was told that I could use it as the coupon does not state it cannot be used on sale items.

Took the purchase to the car and went back in.

Repeated several times and the clerk finally said, ARE YOU DONE YET? I said yes I will be back tomorrow.

She knew I had cleaned the rack off of any name brand, good looking. good color items.

Go for it Maria, it can be done and dont forget your coupons!!

next tip--- I get a ton of items free from many sources, just got a Rachael Ray frying pan for free a few days back and will be listing it soon on ebay.

Look for samples, coupons etc on any website you go to. Most are hidden but want you to try their items and will send samples or coupons if you purchase one item you will get one for free etc.

I do run into other ebays a lot, at auctions, thrift stores etc and it is like a mad dash.

Especially at huge community yard sales.

What I do is grab up everything I believe I want and make a pile and tell the owner this is my pile and do not let anyone touch my items please. Usually put it behind the owner so no one can touch it.

99% of the time I take everything but I make sure no one gets their grubby hands on my stuff....

Last week community yard sale PS3 with 9 games for 45.00. There almost was a war as the DH stuck his tree trunks out and blocked any would be thief. I seen it in the box with the games first and it is MINE.....

Most community yard sales with nice items and lots of people is like this.

That's why our company vehicles are all SUVs.

I have told the lads to be on the look out for 'gear' or items as they do their runs.

With some many fashion places closing within our city, heaps of bargains are there.

They often call and let me know what they found. Been trained well. They get a spotter's fee :thumb:

Some of the clothes buyers for companies appear to be unable to decide on sizes. Got a job lot of mens' shorts. All mislabelled and were for young boys.
Common failing.

In a shopping mall, a kitchenware shop closed. Right up to the last 30 minutes of trading prices were a little high. Then the owner decided to lower prices. We pounced there with cash. Got packaged goods of good quality AND receipts.

Awesome timing GB.

unkown5454 04-22-2013 08:54 PM

I thought this was normal. Buying cheap stuff to resell online...isn't that the point we're all here for every day?

Sandy D 04-22-2013 09:54 PM

Yes it sure is Unkown.

Spot a bargain, grab it and flip it for some profits.

Hey, if I can sell orange flavored candy that is made with Florida oranges then anyone can sell anything.

sax4 04-23-2013 02:44 AM

When I go back to the UK I do this, I make enough money to pay for.my whole trip in one day

GreenBean 04-23-2013 04:27 AM

Couple hours on the road, nice greasy breakfast and hunting for bargains.

Not sure if any of you have a TJ MAXX near you...but man you can find some really good deals there and flip them on ebay for like 400% profit!

Talking about dry-fit sports apparel. you know what im talking about, without giving the name away.

dallasreed 04-23-2013 10:14 AM

TJ MAXX is the bomb :)
I have bought clothes there a few times and am always floored by how cheap their designer stuff is and seriously considered seeing about reselling some on eb, but clothes are not my business.
