What's Your Purpose Behind All This Work?

Hello,

Just like the subject says? What's your purpose behind all this hard work on eBay, amazon etc... What are you trying to achieve, to go trough all this hassle, hard work, stress, problems and everything that comes with being a seller on these platforms. For me, it's these two.

1. Student Loans - I can't sleep easy at night knowing how much I owe. I just want to pay it off as soon as I can.
2. Porsche 911 997S - I need this car in my life :pry:

What's your objective?

dallasreed 04-24-2013 02:11 PM

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Being self employed has its own merits as well.

To survive.
To pay off debts and bills.
To make a better life for me and my family.
To know that how much work I put into my business is how much work I will get out of it without being in a dead end job making someone else rich off my hard work,
The list is endless....

Lots of reasons and I dont have time to go through them all.
Not in any order.

1. Love to be successful at anything I do.

2. Getting the opportunity to be my own boss, work my own hours, have the opportunity to do what I want, when I want and whenever I want.

3. Being able to give things to my kids that I never dreamed of having as a child because I came from a large family.

4. Teaching my kids the value of hard work, effort, reaching for goals and never giving up. Along with teaching them other skills outside of what they want to be so they can always have something to lean on in the case of need that will make them money. My 14 year old already has her own stealth account and does extremely well!!

5. For me seeing and helping others succeed is very important to me. I want others to succeed as much as myself.

Many others.

If your goals are 1. Loan, and 2. Car, then I think you need to get your priorities in line. You should seriously seek a financial adviser.

I have a degree in accounting from a prestigious school hence the big student loan. Nothing is worse than owing someone money in accounting lol. I need to pay off this loan, so I can be liquid.

slim jim 04-24-2013 09:39 PM

Did you get your CPA license?

100HRWEEK 04-24-2013 09:44 PM

Still undecided if I want to peruse my CPA License.

slim jim 04-24-2013 10:05 PM

You should def do it, the difference between just an accounting degree and being a CPA is worlds away

Why do you say that?

OP may know exactly what he is doing.

Some of us decided to do this type of business as a result of what we had done before starting out.

If due diligence has been done, no need for a financial adviser

Always with the negative thoughts, OddBall ;)

Accounting is a very challenging subject. I agree with you on being just an "Account vs being a CPA". However, passing the examination would mean for me to go to University everyday 6-7 hours and put in some heavy hours. I would probably have to close up eBay, amazon, or anything I have just started. That's my dilemma currently trying to see what I should do.

Goals are goals, if OP sets these then he has a good reason.

I do hear ya, its not a walk in the park. Its difficult to balance all of those but you can do it. Just set aside certain time for each. You can also scale back on the other things you are doing while u study for the CPA. I'm not trying to lecture u or anything, I just think the more u wait the less chance it happens and u might regret that one day. Whatever u decide just stick with it!
