$260 or $86 per month per cat.

The love they bring into the home = PRICELESS!

I have 5! They cost me $42 for all of them for a month!

They eat fresh mackerel - $0.75 a cooked deboned full fish. Chicken breast fillets - $1.25 a kilo. A few tins thrown in along with 3 kg of biscuits Job done!

Vet bills here are normally around $6 a visit which would be a couple of jabs and a weeks worth of pain killers and antibiotics ( for the cat! )

Thailand does have some advantages, this is one but its not always like this.

WOW! I'm thinking about moving...

A week ago, I took all 3 to the local vet for their yearly checkup and shots. Was $280. 1 Can of Science Diet Cat Food = $1.25. One of my cats needs his teeth cleaned and that is another $180 + whatever the shot of antibiotics costs. Routine matters are not covered by their health insurance. But I pay for it because if anything should GOD FORBID happen to any of them, I want to make a decision on what is best for the cat, not a financial one. There is a $250 deductible, then they cover up to $20,000 per year. So, it is worth it to me.

Wow, those figures are crazy. One of mine was seriously ill last year from some sort of poisoning ( probably an insect bite, centipede, spider) he had liver and kidney failure and was really yellow, very sick boy. They gave him a 30% chance of living.

He was in the vets 7 days, had 4 full spectrum blood tests done and a lot of medication, drips and fluids. He survived, I was expecting a large bill. It came to $166.

He's a big lump and sits on the desk all day, I'd be lost without him.

Dont get me wrong we had cats around growing up but I am extremely picky when it comes to my food and my kitchen and dont want no furballs showing up in my food.

I know I am overly picky but I dont want a cat who walks in their litter box climbing on my tables and counters.

No offense to cat owners at all but for me it took me years to even allow a dog in the home and even with that he gets restricted to the areas he goes into.

And we also have a rabbit, (outside in a cool location which is protected area so the panthers dont eat him ) had some other animals such as hamsters etc over the years for the kids so we love the pets.

I agree. We have a big garden, the office is a separate building to the house so the cats come in the office and tend to stay out all night, they don't tend to go in the house at all.

.

Meh.... I dont want furballs THROWING up in my food.

All the animals have no right of entry to the kitchen.

Kitchen is the only room with a closed door.

Only one that ever tries to enter is the cat. Still, he has 8 lives left.

Jeff made me laugh at the expenses.

Few weeks ago I had a vet bill of $600 for the dog. And a doctor's bill of $80 for myself. The local mechanice charged $500 for the auto to be serviced.

I work in the wrong industry I think.

:juggle:

Maybe start up a new niche market. Car mechanic with an attached veterinary. Can get your pets and car serviced at the same time. I am onto something here....

Dogs have owners, cats have servants.

We have a 6-foot long Darwin carpet python - lounges in a cage in the garage, doesn't need to be walked and is fed some rats every couple of months. Very cheap to own.
