They made a big point of saying that Jeff Bezos was buying this personally, not Amazon.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see a WP tie-in with Amazon, especially the Kindle. I also would not be surprised to see the WP take on a very pro-internet attitude. I very much doubt that he bought this out of a desire to run a newspaper.

Agree jeffweico - he is doing the purchase likely to avoid some kind of legal loophole and then have Az get involved as an off-shoot

I'm not sure what reason he would have for buying a paper. It would seem smarter to me to recruit the workers for the new project.

I'm curious as to what he's up to.
