Neighbourhood ablaze

Photo taken 10 hours ago. Time was about 22:00hours (10:00pm).

My local Rural Fire Service spent the last 20 hours battling fires that burned in my dry bush neighbour-hood.

Chance this fire was caused by a cigarette butt being thrown out of a auto window.

Damage bill is high.

Our fire season does not start until October 1.

Going to be a long summer.

Only no sleep.

I caught back shift radio duties.

And I smell smokey.

Be careful of inhaling too much smoke - if your eyes feel watery or you have respiratory problems...edge away. Glad to hear no property damage to you GB - take steps to avoid smoke inhalation

Is it not dry and hot where you at GB? Increased risk of forest fires...rather than just a cigarette butt...anyhow keep safe - be careful

I'm very happy that GB is OK. And VERY ANGRY if the fire was started by a cigarette butt thrown out of a window. I'm an ex-smoker and I don't have a problem with smokers, but haven't they ever heard of an ASH TRAY????

No, most smokers do this. Total dis respect for others lungs, personal property etc. Even at Disney the smokers have an area they have to be in to smoke but of course they break the rules and go outside the area. Of course they just toss their butts all over the grounds close to and around the smoking area making it nasty and smelly.

If anyone who smokes would spend every single day for 9 months watching a family member breath by a machine because they smoked their entire life you would stop. Its a nasty and harmful habit that hurts other peoples lung as well.
