Hah nyc nice pic - I enjoy Olympics hockey but...just the fact it's all NHL stars kind of does take away from the pure amateur aspect of Olympics...

Hahaha, sorry to comment on an old post. I think it is Geography Sandy. Personally I have no clue why there are even NHL Teams in CA, AZ, FL, TN, TX, SC, etc. Nobody cares about Hockey in these places.

In my general Area. Sharks have been like the Dallas Mavericks were. Been to the Playoffs like 12 years straight. Their TV ratings are horrible. They do sell out all the time. For some odd reason here ever since I was in elementary school in the 90's. Nerds and Computer Geeks who like no other sports love Hockey. I have no clue why. It is one of the strangest things.

People for years would rather watch the Warriors win 20 games and finish in dead last than watch the Sharks here.

Still a fun sport to watch - there are some traditions...especially up here but you're right vogeltron, too many markets lack interest

After being in Vegas this last week for a trade show. I do believe I have talked to more Canadians than I ever have in my entire life. Was very interesting. I will say and I talked to several people about hockey. I am from California it doesn't snow in the populated areas I could care less.

To me it is like when the Florida Marlins or some **** team that the locals don't even care about win. It is an insult to the sport. I understand small market teams. But when you are even in a big market and the Ducks or the Kings win and Nobody cares. It is like an insult to everyone else. I understand Hockey is a religion in Canada. Like football is in Texas. It is seriously messed up having teams in Nashville and Florida and all these other places. I guess maybe the retired Canadians in AZ go to see their home team play vs the Coyotes I have no idea who else goes.

I also find it annoying when teams get relocated to worse markets just to get cash...you're right about the retired snowbird Canadians who will go watch.

@rsot. I am not happy with the Canadian hockey teams at all after knocking out both the men's and women's us team !!!!!!!

Niemi came out with a shut out vs Rangers. Been wonderign if letting Nabokov and Kiprusoff go was a mistake. Sharks look like the NHL version of the Mavericks. Always make the playoffs but never make the Finals. Gotta give Cuban and Mavericks credit they finally won. Sharks are a mess.

Sharks be 2nd in the pacific division...always give good action during the past 10+ years but yes, never quite finish.

They always choke. As an American I would rather see a Canadian team win. Nobody in California actually plays hockey. Maybe a few ppl in Tahoe and the Sierra mountains. Sharks have a solid following by Techies in Silicon Valley. Nerds love hockey for some reason. I have no clue why.

I always wondered why there was no NHL team in Wisconsin. Compared to some of the other cities. Cough Cough Nashville.. Carolina.. Tampa Bay.. etc.

It is only fitting that the Sharks are in San Jose. For whatever reason here in Northern California NERDs love Hockey. They don't like any other sport. The rest of us would rather talk about the Warriors, or even the Giants or the few A's fans out there. But yet these people exist.

Hopefully the Canadians or some other NHL crazy city wins the Stanley cup. It is a joke that that there are 3 NHL hockey teams in California.

Epic collapse. I expect firings in San Jose. What an embarrassment for a Franchise who has been to the Playoffs for over a decade and never even made the Stanley Cup Finals.
