tether ipad mini to iphone 5
 

I want to buy an ipad mini but do not want to buy a data plan, can I tether my
iphone 5 (which is on contract) to it and if I can will the ipad mini need a sim in it?

paging MM78 - but honestly, from what I have seen...you put the iphone 5 as tether mode so it generates your IP then you use the ipad mini wifi option.

The iPhone will act like a hotspot pretty much mobile wireless Internet and than u create a username and password for that hot spot just like u would with ur router, so when the iPhone has the hot spot on the ipad mini will pick up the signal and ask if u like to join and u just put the password that u programmed in the iPhone , Verizon charges more for the service , or on ebay u can buy a flashed verizon hotspot I just got one and works great it was $100 first two months free service after that $15 a month unlimited data it's prepaid there all over ebay

I just flashed a Mifi 2200 and they work great.

thanks guys, I have done the hotspot thing with my windows laptop and the iphone5 before and was wondering if it could be done with ipad, I asked in case it was not possible for some greedy apple reason....

Think Dmshark5 is pretty clear on using the iphone as a hotspot...no cost...

It works fine.

You 'pair' the two.

No extra cost.
