Hello, everyone...
Those of you who have seen my posts over the last few years probably already know what this one is about.
I think that most of us have a lot to be thankful for. We have the ability to make money even in a screwed up economy without having to punch a time clock everyday. And that is a beautiful thing. Of course, some of us are more successful than others. For some this is a part time thing. Others may be just starting out. For the veterans, most of us seem to be doing very well.
So, this is just a reminder from ME as an individual, this is not an official forum thing.
There are many people in this world (and many of God's furry creatures) who are not doing so well. People go hungry. 50,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each week due to lack of homes. For some, loneliness is a chronic condition.
So, my challenge is simple. Just remember to keep the spirit of the holiday season and try to do what you can for others. Help people or animals in some way. Whatever way you like. It does not have to be with money, although money always helps. Of course, whatever you decide to do, or whom you decide to help is up to you.
Sometimes we get so busy at this time of the year, we forget this - not out of greed, but due to a lack of available time. Just do the best you can. You would be surprised at how much of a difference even small things can make to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Not a Granola muncher like you and could care less about dogs and cats. But you have a point. Most of us in the western world have no idea what poverty is. As my old man always like to say. US is the only country in the world where the poor people are fat. No dirt floors, clean running water. When you hit the switch to turn on the light the electricity actually works. Very good post about keeping things in perspective.

Sadly, I cant say I believe in that since I have seen so much - it's always a good feeling to be doing good things but I don't always expect good things to happen |

sponsoring a child is a good idea and good gift.....I am already on my 2nd girl, I bought it on behalf of my child this time and she knows how lucky she is. The first girl, did not have to work in the fields because I paid for her education through the charity, she got married in her late teens and I think being sponsored improvedlife of her and her family. You need to keep your expections realistic, she was never likely going to get a high-flying job but still being able to read and write etc gives you some status and maybe she will pass that on to her kids....

I am donating the 250.00 Halloween prize to a needy family so they can order some Amazon items for their kids.
We sponsor a couple families this time of year and have for several years.
We also buy blankets, can goods etc for the homeless and the Salvation army makes sure they are given to those in need.
The hubby goes and buys several turkeys and donates them to a food bank every year close to Christmas.
Given is a good thing!!!

I also enjoy given a lot of food to my local homeless organization throughout the year - back in my pre-university days, I would volunteer with them throughout the year...brings back the good memories

Giving food items to food banks and shelters is something that really helps many people.

May not sound like much. But my what I offer to society is to be myself. As I learned through the person I now see as my older brother. Always open doors for everyone especially women and take off my hat if necessary. Be courteous and respectful to everyone. Ask them how they are doing and put on a good face even if I am having a crummy day not to ruin anyone else. I always make sure at the gym my main spot I take a few moments to visit all the old timers to make sure I ask them how they are doing and plans and everything else. Crack a joke if you can.
It took me a long time to learn this. But learning how to have a good attitude about life. And taking small amounts of time to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. It goes a long way. In today's world it seems like so many people are wrapped up in the digital world instead of the real world. Make sure you check yourself and go live life. It is too short to take for granted.

This year I gave over £2000 to random homeless people on the street.
Many of the homeless get £20 notes from me as I made plenty through stealth and I like give to people that have no roof and no food.
Man, I got too much cash, more than enough for my lifetime so many homeless people will get good money from me for the rest of my days.
I am still a Scrooge though and proud of it baa humbug I say, but I still give. Maybe one day someone will give me something!

I ate it once as a cereal when I was a kid, that was enough! Gimme pizza, burgers, seafood, French fries and anything else that is bad for you...
I limit myself, of course (otherwise I would weigh 500 pounds) but I LOVE junk food. It IS designed to taste good, after all. The scientists have done a good job of that! Now, if they could just remove the fat and calories while keeping the taste....
