| | | Sandy D | 12-26-2013 01:29 PM | Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Went to Disney for a few hours Christmas Day as we usually do and grabbed some photos of the castle to share with you all.
Elbow to elbow people at the park.
Castle was amazing. Many different colors and themes constantly changing.
Had one really good shot from Thunder Mtn that I thought would be the best of the night and it came out blurry. http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/...edec252013.jpg http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/...e212-25-13.jpg
No snow on Main Street Disney this year. Disney got cheap on us.
Usually you can go down Main st at Disney and they have snow falling from the rooftops and it is awesome, not this year.
Cannot wait for New Years eve at Disney. Best time of the year. Great time. |
| An0nym0u$ | 12-26-2013 02:01 PM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Wow, good pictures...what kind of camera was that taken with?
Haven't been to Disney since the 90's when I was a teen. The hot new ride was the Tower of Terror, think it was 1994 or 1995 then.
Would like to take my son when he's old & tall enough to go on more of the rides. |
| Sandy D | 12-26-2013 03:54 PM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day My Galaxy 4.
The crowd was keeping me from being able to stay study with holding it so it came out somewhat blurry.
Yes, Tower of Terror is over at Hollywood. Cool ride. If you like sudden drops that is for you.
Aerosmith ride is also nice if you like going fast.
I think he needs to be 52-54 to get on some of the best rides.
Animal Kingdom is a must for him. Good rides, jeep ride into the area to see the animals is great. Nice water ride also. Take extra clothes.
Hollywood also as a nice toy story ride.
Disney has a new roller coaster opening this year in May in the new Fantasyland section. |
| An0nym0u$ | 12-26-2013 05:51 PM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day I remember going on all the 'mountains' - Thunder mountain & Space mountain. I would keep lining up and going back on.
Space mountain was awesome cuz its in the dark. Thunder mountain was just flat out scary cuz it made so much noise, I thought it would fall apart!
And I remember we went to Universal Studios too, b/c I do remember going on the Back to the Future ride.
Definitely some nostalgia and good times, now I can't wait for son to grow up and take him :) |

Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Wonderful photos Sandy - too bad about the lack of snow...how late does it stay open? |

Various times during the year.
Last night 1 am.
We stay until close many of those nights they stay open until 1. Once the parade is over around 10:30 the crowd leaves and the rides are 5-10 wait times so you can hit tons of rides with little to no wait.
Capacity crowd with over flow parking in the grass which usually only happens a couple times a year. |

Universal now has rip ride rocket. A kick your butt ride that you can see most get off and look like they cannot breathe. |

We have a total blast at all the parks. Busch Gardens, Legoland, Disney, Universal all are within a short drive of me so we love those rides.
Animal Kingdom has a newer ride $$$ called Mt Everest that is also killer going backwards down a steep hill. |

| LilyPily | 12-27-2013 03:33 AM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Oh I miss my holidays to the US! My niece and her husband have got a job working for Amazon in the US and are leaving me for Seattle come January. I wish I could go with them :-( |
Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day How big has Legoland become? |
| Sandy D | 12-27-2013 12:36 PM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day It is nice, clean, large and draws a huge crowd because they focused on kids more then anything.
I like it really well.
The miniature snapshot of the USA build with legos is amazing.
Built on the old Cypress Gardens grounds they keep some of that which is awesome to me as I went to it as a kid and have great memories of it.
Reasonable prices also.
30 minutes or so from Disney so that helps them.
Last time we were at Legoland it was packed. |
Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Sweet - 30 min drive too...well worth the distance.
Did Mickey Mouse dress up? |

Disney is in Orlando area and Legoland is in Winter Haven. Down I-4 to S 27. Straight highway run to it.
Seldom do you see Mickey and Minnie change their attire. |
Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day American Icons they be...Goofy I have seen in Santa Claus gear |

I like Animal Kingdom really well.
Also, Hollywood for the nostalgic look.
We have annual passes and go at least once a week if not more.
Will be going again tomorrow. |

So need to see these parades just for the joy and fun.
Baby raising for the next few years means I need to wait

The parade changes on special days and holidays and they are amazing.
I liked the Halloween one better then the Christmas one. Great special effects, different types of things going on etc.
I will dig up some pictures. |

. | The whole marketing concept of Disney is amazing.
Yet to find a great deal of people who can not find some enjoyment from attending any of the sites.
In the turmoil of the world, we need the magick from a few hours at 'Disney'. |

Guessing in the 100+ range for a day.
Yes, they have fast pass. You get it one hour or so ahead of time and come back and go to the front. |
Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day Fast pass and annual passes - that is really amazing - it really is always changing so stays interesting |

Anyone can get a fast pass.
Go one day and they have units you can grab a fast pass and it tells you what time to come back to use it.
Annual pass is for Florida residents and you have a variety of types of passes you get. With our resident discount we pay around 23.00 per person and can go as many times as you want and no black out days. All parks included except the Disney water parks which we have annuals to them also. |

Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day :) nice - when I meant 'change', I meant that Disney World is always upgrading, evolving, changing things to keep it interesting...not stagnant - it's really impressive |
| Sandy D | 12-30-2013 01:16 PM | Re: Disney World Florida castle Christmas Day The new Fantasyland is nice.
They need to make some changes at the Magic Kingdom. Some of the rides are out dated, old and getting boring. This might happen soon as they completely gutted Fantasyland a couple of years ago and it looks awesome.
The new roller coaster in Fantasyland will be done this summer. |
