Anyone have any advice on a "Crossover" vehicle?

I like roomy cars. When I was a kid, they were still making the land yachts and I have some fond memories of those cars. I hate the tiny compact cars they are making today. I also don't care much for the huge honking SUV's. So, I was thinking that a "crossover" vehicle might be just what I am looking for.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Anything to recommend? I'm looking for an average one, NOT a Mercedes or BMW. I know these are not cheap, but I'd really like to keep it in the $30k or so range if possible. At my age, I'm not looking to impress anyone - just for a comfortable vehicle.

Any advice appreciated.

I have my heart set on a GMC Acadia because it seats 7 but doesn't look like a gigantic vehicle.

Also interested in that vehicle, b/c a friend of mine can get the 'employee discount' from GM for me :)

If I wanted a 5 seater, my choice would be the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's always on the top or near the top of the list.

On this link, its ranked #2 and the regular Cherokee is #1...

Can't go wrong with the 2014 ford flex.

I know just the reasons too, jeffweico.

You are looking to transport your furkids.

Back to the topic.

Are you looking for new or used?

Mid size choices could include

Dodge Durango

Ford Explorer *** regardless of country, a solid set of wheels

Ford Escape ( slightly smaller donk but still good value)

BMW X1 ( just on the upper side of costs but great vooommmm value).

:cheer:

I'm looking for something new. I will most likely look at the Ford Escape, the Ford Flex, the Jeep Grand Cherokee (although I'm not sure about the SIZE) and maybe 1 or 2 others and then make a decision.

Normally, I would be open to buying a used vehicle, but reliability is extremely important to me at this particular point in my life. I don't need a FANCY car, but I want to feel comfortable that I can get where I am going without mechanical issues.
