Flying for next to nothing.

I am going to share a way in which you can essentially fly for next to nothing.

How?

There are varies credit cards out there that gives you miles after a certain amount of money spent in a month. If you are wondering how you'll be able to spend the money? Easy, buying products to sell on eBay, paying bills, paying gym membership, gas, etc.

Here is a list of credit cards that I personally use.

Chase Sapphire Preferred - If you spend up to 3,000 dollars in the first 3 months of opening the card, you will receive 40,000 miles. The 40,000 miles can be transferred to either your United Airlines or Southwest Airlines frequent flier program.

Chase United MileagePlus® Explorer Card - If you spend up to 1,000 dollars in the first 3 months of opening the card, you will receive 30,000 miles. You will also receive priority boarding and two passes to United Club.

Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard - If you spend up to 1,000 dollars in the first 3 months of opening the card, you will receive 30,000 miles. You will also receive priority boarding and your first checked bag will be free.

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card - The benefit varies on the person. For me I got 50,000 miles for spending 1,000 dollars in the first 3 months of opening the card. You may want to check what benefit you'll get: https://www.deltaamexcard.com/.

That is all I have for tonight. I hope you guys will take advantage of this.
Some credit cards may give you an additional 5,000 miles if you add a cardholder onto the card.

Do you know what the translation is for actual miles? Around the equator is 24000 miles. You're not get a plane ticket that flies 24000 miles with the 40000 miles on your credit card do you?

Do you know how much it costs to fly around the equator, around 2k-$3k in the US, depending with what airlines. Those tickets are called RTW (around the world) tickets. If you ever call an airline just tell them what RTW specials and routes do they have. Just flying to Aussie land right now is around 1400-1500 at the cheapest from Vegas to Sydney.

So its not that expensive to fly around the equator like most people think.

i get 150k points a year with my amex card. Fly almost anywhere for free. Remember with these you will lower your credit score for awhile so be careful

It varies.

For example:

(United Airlines)
Economy class from NYC to Guangzhou is 80k miles
Business class is 175k miles

(United Airlines)
Economy class from NYC to London is 65k miles
Business class is 150k miles

(Delta)
Economy class form NYC to Hawaii is 40k miles
Business class is 80k miles

Is it just for Amex or does this apply to all cards with those rewards? Kind of ruins the mood of it dings your credit score. I wonder what is the reasoning behind dinging your score.

Re: Flying for next to nothing.

Thank you also for the info you have provided.

The OP has provided has with many good programs but for those that are not aware, make sure to weigh the pros and cons of each card and just apply to only one.

Each time you apply for a credit card, it causes the card company to run an inquiry on you which goes on your credit report for at least one year and a max of two years. The inquires will normally lower your credit score depending upon if it is a soft or hard inquiry.

At least that's what I know in the US, not sure about other countries.

Just a heads up.

Wicked flight suit - would be fun to own one of those

Yes, I think MM78 looks rather cool in that suit.

Never thought you were tall enough to be a pilot for some reason.
