I have been lucky enough to see spring training games in Florida for more then 20 years.

Players also need to think of fans. No way would I travel to AZ to see games.

I am old school Florida spring training and memories of teams, players, stadiums that AZ wont ever have happened here.

Memories that stand out over the years in Florida spring training.

Seeing Kirk Gibson his last season hobbling around first base and stretching a single into a double knowing his days are numbered was something to see. He made it to 2nd but his poor worn out legs and 100% love of the game was something to see.

Hot dog vendor singing like crazy with an amazing voice when you buy a hot dog in St Pete.

Eric Davis catching a fly ball at the wall to then pick off a runner from third to home with a solid right to the left side of the plate throw was amazing.

Craig Biggio yelling at his own team mates telling them these fans want autographs and waited two hours in line after a game, get your butts off the bus and sign autographs for the kids who are here NOW!!! They did!

Scott Erickson signing a ball, having multiple other players sign it and then toss it over the fence to my DH with TO: xxxxxxx
Dated it and had 8 other autographs on it.

Tom Browning at Buddy Freddies in Plant City helping a elderly lady who fell get up and told her I will get your plates of food for you, tell me what you want and I will get it for you. It was a buffet like no other back in the day.

From my experience; depends on where you are from in Canada. I know lots of people from BC follow the Mariners. Met a few people from Manitoba that were Twins fans. Guessing because geographically it was the closet U.S. team.

But yea, Toronto is the only game in town for MLB & NBA now.

Could very well be. I just really like the state of Arizona. Any excuse to get out of CA is good enough for me. I haven't been to Florida during the spring May so I can't compare. But the last two times I was in Florida. Actually anytime I end up East of the Mississippi. The damn humidity is just unbearable. Would rather be in the 110 with the Dry heat of NV or AZ any day than ever experience another 90+ day on the East cost with all the humidity.

Well I am hoping my Gigantes continue with their every other year winning streak. Nice comeback vs. the DBags as I us Giants fans call them.

The first day of instant replay was interesting. From what I heard about 1:00 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds on everything today to get it right.

Watching some the NCAA BBall games. I am all for getting the calls right. Not balls/strikes obviously. But safe, out etc. Sometimes replay can be controversial. But we would not all know who Jim Joyce was if there was instant replay. Lets do it as quickly as possible during the regular season, but get the calls right. That is what technology is for.

No Glass anymore in America. Sometimes you can get aluminum cans. Lol, I am sure older people can remember crazier stuff. Nickle or Dime beer night in Cleveland from what I hear. I remember as a kid being at Candlestick. Deion Sanders had signed at the time Mega Contract with Cowboys. But was playing CF for the Giants. All the fans on a 100+ loss team screaming obscenities at him and throwing all kinds of crap at him.

I like primetime but as a kid at the time. It was funny as heck.

3-4 years ago I thought the Mets were going to be the team to beat.

Then again I am one of those anyone but the buying a pennant Yankees for the win.

Great start by Tim Hudson in the Desert tonight. #1 on active Wins list. Probably not a HOFer. But what a career he has put together. I always thought of the Big 3 in Oakland. Zito was the finesse guy. Moulder was the efficient one. And Hudson was just the consistent one.

Always thought he would end up being the 3rd of the bunch. Zito has 2 games in the 2012 playoffs otherwise his time in SF was a disaster. Moulder had a few good years with Cardinals before his shoulder blew out. Hudson definitely ended up being the best of the bunch.

They did and Jeremey Giambi didn't slide at home plate. One of those completely out of position plays but all the NY gush over Jeter making the play. I will give him credit would rather be lucky than good.

My Giants benefited from Brooks Conrad booting multiple balls in 2010. And Scott Rolen of the Reds booting a routine ball in game 3 of the NLDS to help my Giants win a game 3 down 0-2 and end up winning the series.

I also have some bad memories of Jose Cruz Jr. dropping a routing fly ball vs the Marlins in the NLDS in 2003. He won the Gold Glove Ironically for RF that year. What a choker.

My Gigantes (Giants like to refer to them in espanol) have been scoring much more than expected first few games. The pitching staff hasn't been spectacular. But Moorse if he can play like he did in Washington. The majority of the Bullpen is still solid.

Fatso Sandavol lost a bunch of weight. When he was under like 240 he would hit like .330. Would not sign him to a contract without a weight clause. When he got up over 300lbs other than the WS game off Verlander he stunk. I wanted to trade him then.

Not a team on paper that will blow anyone away. But a solid group as can seen by 2010 and 2012. I am excited about this season.

I am a 49ers and Warriors fan. But selling many sports related items I don't get to attached. I will say though. I absolutely love Baseball. "America's pastime". I absolutely love my Giants. Can't say that for any other pro or collegiate sports teams.

I still can't get over 2012. Tim Kurkjian's summary is absolutely on point for Giants fans.
