Firefox shows blank page upon loading. Need help fixing problem
Hi.
Suddenly out of nowhere, my firefox on my lappy has stopped working.
When I load it up, there is just a blank screen with no menus and I an unable to use it at all.
I tried a complete uninstall and also deleted the firefox folder and nothing has worked.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Lappy is an Acer i5 with windows 8.
Commodo antivirus/firewall with latest firewall.
I tried to disable firewall and still nothing.
Everything was working fine then when I tried today, blank page thing happened. |

When you say blank page, do you mean you can't get anything to show when you open a link? Can you show us what exactly you see? |

Thank for that. Do you know if I use this will it keep my cookies and do you think I am better off using IE10 instead of firefox? |

Your homepage is set to a blank, go to Tools --> Options --> General, under Home Page, add what you would like to see.
If there is a problem, check the proxy settings under Advanced --> Network --> Connection.

| The Portable Firefox is what I use for all my stealths, but instead of using 1 Firefox I install this Portable for Each Stealth, this way the cookies are stored in that specific Firefox.
This Portable Firefox will keep all your cookies. I hate IE so I wouldn't use it if you paid me. |

| I tried to run as an admin but it still did not work.
I also tried the portable version and I still get the same problem.
I am going to have to reboot the laptop and see it this works. I know it is one of the first things I should have done but the lappy is in Amsterdam and I am using Teamviewer to access it.
In order for a reboot I will have to get the guy over there to do it for me and reconnect my internet there. He charges me €15 for the pleasure which is why I did not try the reboot in the first place.
I will call him tomorrow lunchtime and see if rebooting works.

You should be able to do a remote reboot using CLI. Do you have access to command line interface? |

| When you issue a restart command, the remote computer should reconnect to the Teamviewer. I use teamviewer and I can restart the remote computer wait for a view minutes for the remote to restart and then reconnect. The computer registry may also be corrupted. I suggest that you use ccleaner to uninstall firefox and then reinstall it. Just go under tools in ccleaner and you should see the uninstaller. |

I can do a remote reboot from here but the laptop I will be rebooting has Truecrypt on it so a password will need to be inputted upon rebooting which is why I need the ask the guy at the other end to do it for me.
Also, registry is fine.
I will try rebooting later today and see if that works, if not, I will have to use IE |

Maybe take it in to a shop if you cant solve - fork over some dollars to have it inspected - worth an option for business |

Hi everyone and thanks for all the help and advice.
A simple reboot fixed the problem.
Normally, that's one of the first things I do when there is a problem, but as I mentioned in earlier posts I was sort of unable to do that.

Hi. Sorry for late reply..... yes I am still using teamviewer and all is good.
However, I am back in this country for a good little while so I will not be using it after a few weeks.
It was really good fun and easy to use, so thanks to the people who recommended it.
I just need to go back to Holland to go and pickup my laptop from my friends house..... any excuse to go back there :) |

You could always use this if it didn't solve anything https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...n/searchreset/
If any type of program has altered your home page/new tab settings this will reset them, works well even if they haven't changed after uninstall/malware scan. |
