Screw Chromebooks, Tablets, etc...11.6" Laptop for $130

This is just an example for people looking to test more portable devices. Stop with the Chromebook and tablet questions to try and save money...this is the stuff I look for:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-asp...C0WA&cp=1&lp=1

$130 + free shipping. Has an HDMI and Bluetooth so you can hook up mouse/keyboard peripherals along with a desktop monitor when you dock at home and then you can obviously undock and use on the go.

Uses an Intel Celeron...not the AMD garbage that is on most Chromebooks and is incredibly slow. Comes with Windows 8.1 which is fine for stea/lth, but this is so cheap and simple you can play with it and load some Linux or Windows 7 on it and be good to go.

This is how I operate along with MiFi boxes, dongles, etc. Never have an issue and I can operate from anywhere.

I tried to buy one and got an error. Then went back to the page to find that they Sold Out.

I was planning on shelving it as an emergency computer. :) Keep us posted if you see another Great Deal!

I will. Staples had their big clearance sale this past weekend that happens only like once every 6 months...literally every nice item they had sold out.

HP does have a 14" coming out for $199 with Windows 8.1. I am patiently waiting for this as I am getting one immediately.

They do occasionally on parts...but, I never see anything good from them on full-sized laptops and desktops. Their prices are pretty competitive so I just don't think they feel the need to be super aggressive with clearance items.

Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples, Frys, Sears, Sam's Club, Tiger Direct and a few others are the ones who get really aggressive clearance sales. Sometimes Dell.com will do 1 or things at a super low price, but only rarely.

Nope. Tried to get the Google Nexus 7 LTE 32GB for $180...sold out in like an hour. That thing is still $350 on Google Play Store. A new one is coming, but that price is insane for such a nice tablet. Slap in the T-Mobile SIM and get 200MB of data per month for free. Nice toy to play with :)

Going to ear-mark these because of the holiday selling season coming up.

Good info

Try Microcenter.com they have about 11 locations scattered in the US , but great store, it's like Best Buy, but better customer service and everything Is at wholesale prices

They have an apple store inside as well, sell everything from PC's to Macs, laptops, tablets and notebooks, always at great prices and have sales on them

They also sell all computer components, and any electronics u can think of at great prices, they have clearance bins scattered throughout the stores, I found otterbox for $5 , I sold it for $45

Great store for electronics

It's a promotion specifically for T-Mobile.

Intel celeron is a slow processor and especially with the annoying windows 8, cmon. Windows 8 makes everything slow unless you got like 8gb of memory, stupid engineers.

You are thinking about the Celerons from yesteryear. I have had multiple Celeron laptops running W7 and W8 just fine. Plus, we are talking about selling here. Not gaming, media consumption, etc.

If you want to be versatile in your operations, the new Celerons are more than enough.

Re: Screw Chromebooks, Tablets, etc...11.6" Laptop for $130

I didn't know that. I was talking about the celerons from 5 years ago, but from my experience the old celerons from years ago for media, browsing, watching movies were terribly slow over time.

Yes, those plus Windows XP will make you want to kill yourself.

Another good one:

ASUS X205TA-HATM0103 Notebook PC | StaplesĀ®

BTW...Staples is absorbing Office Max and Office Depot. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Re: Screw Chromebooks, Tablets, etc...11.6" Laptop for $130

For stealthing thats a good computer, ASUS makes nice laptops and it has an SSD.
4 or 8 GB RAM upgrade would be necessary, 2 GB is just about the minimum needed.

Since when did the Atom CPU's become frickin' quad cores?? They used to be cheap-o single cores that only simulated dual cores functionality.
This is the CPU in the link unkown5454 posted.
ARK | Intel® Atomā„¢ Processor Z3735F (2M Cache, up to 1.83 GHz)

Re: Screw Chromebooks, Tablets, etc...11.6" Laptop for $130

Trying to keep up with Exynos and Snapdragon finally, I guess. Not to mention all of those cheap Chinese companies like Mediatek going crazy with 4, 6 and 8 core. Unfortunately, the only good ones are still Exynos and Snapdragon.

Windows 8 is lightweight though. I've run it on some slower machines and it still ran fast. For stealthing, it should not pose any problems.
