I use it on an old Linksys WRT54G, love it. I would not recommended for newbies.

It unlocks the router to the next level. To flash your router, follow the instructions religiously.

If you have any questions let me know.

Flashing can mean bricks. But if you do switch over to dd wrt google the little tweaks and the dd wrt is even better and faster

How come when logged into the router you are able to see and ban Mac addresses. If you can then how come ebay paypal and amazon can't. I'm going to test it out and play with it. Ban one of my devices then spoof the mac and see if I can access it.

Easy answer to that is...only your ISP can see the MAC address of your modem and router (next device).

Unless Amazon/PP/Ebay are connected to your home LAN, then they're not seeing the MAC of any of your devices.

As packets get transmitted across devices and multiple hops, each device only holds the MAC address of the neighboring device.

Old technology become handy in these situations.

This old router now has a built in VPN, a radius server client, VoIP, ... to mention a few.

Good point. It is very useful to use re-use old routers and flash them with dd-wrt. You can then use that old router as a bridge or repeater to enhance your home LAN.

CNET has a nice little article on how to do that...

Surprisingly, the wireless signal is more powerful than a regular wireless device. I have very good coverage with this device. You can also crank up the signal if need be, love it.
