That's a good way to trash the beach..

I have seen "experiments" like this done in parks and people have no qualms about tearing up bushes, overturning big rocks and generally making a big mess of things.

Maybe the beach is different because.. sand.. but still.

beach is not different. you can get arrested for destroying beaches especially where turtles/birds breed. i don't know what they did to allow this here.

the beach is an ecosystem like anything else. i know there are very strict rules and protected areas where i live.

He should be fined for this experiment on destroying the beach

So he is being controversial to bring attention to himself and make money.

I can't hate on making money, but being a piece of sh!t to make money is arrogant and selfish.

in my humble opiniion, the real problem is not him, is the people who let and hire him (and others want-to-be-artist li) do this kind of things.

This is about 40 minutes drive from me. Like a comment said "Wouldn't it be a laugh if they hadn't actually buried any gold and the 'art' project was about human greed !"

By the way it's fine to dig holes in beaches here. It doesn't ruin anything and their isn't any wildlife nesting in the sands. All birds nest in the cliffs which are untouched. Children and adults always dig holes in the sand here and it's normal.

The remaining wildlife live in the rocks, not in the actual sand.

Beaches are made for digging on. You get a bucket and a spade and you dig. It does no harm!

The only wildlife at our beaches are the seagulls. They are all on steroids at the beach. Big, mean sea gulls with scars and tattoos. They steal your ice cream if you're not careful.

There is some confusion here, but I won't argue something so stupid. Of course we don't mean digging a tiny hole in the sand is a problem. Don't be a dumb@ss.

I would be so pissed if I found out at the end of the day this was just a public prank! can you imagin all that hard work, possibly investment in a top of the range metal detector only to find its all for nothing.

Time vs chance of reward...I wouldnt spend the whole day...but yes, I can imagine the frustration hah...or if someone just walks by and finds one few feet from you
