External Power Button for Laptops???
 

So, I have a macbook connected to an external monitor and keyboard/mouse. When I want to power it up, I have to open the macbook lid, press power button and close the lid each time. So if I put it on hibernate mode for example, I would have to come back and open lid numerous times which is frustrating.

Are there alternatives?

Possibly a external usb power button?


P.S. I do know you can configure it such that clicking your mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard will switch macbook on from sleep, but most times I tend to shut the entire thing down, so really need another physical power button?

You can buy an external docking station for relatively cheap...

Do they have a power button? or how is the macbook switched on?

Best thing to do would be to go into an Apple store and ask them.

I did, but they didnt know of any way.

I thought maybe there will be a some device out there, usb power button maybe.

Or something else.

Why not just keep it on? I have owned my Mac Book for nearly a year and I have probably turned it off 3-4 times since then..

Had a look and it looks really nice. But all I really wanted is a power button, rather than forking out so much money for an entire docking system.

@aspkin - i like to be environmentally friendly, hence switch everything off :)

@mine - was thinking of getting an Apple keyboard /mouse, do they have power buttons?

Looked at Apple website/ image of products, seems like no indication....
