Excel 2010 - Change the column width and row height
 

Hi Guys
I have an excel chart , that the column is made of 7 columns (for rating purpose and other options) , anyway , one of the sections has space for comments , this sections is one row made of 4 columns that are centered and merged and text sidled as well as the option of automatic row height but the problem is when i entered text the row height stays the same for the one row made of e,f,g,h and does not gets bigger ...
only when i enter the same long text for column A which is menu column the text on row (made of e,f,g,h) gets changed as well ...


i have a movie explaining the issue but my excel version is in hebrew ...i will attach the movie anyway in case it will help , i will appreciate any help ...

I'm not exactly sure of everything you said but if your trying to change the height of the row, just go to the beginning of the row to the left and double click and hold and drag up and down that will change the height of the entire Row

If you want to change the width go to the top of the page and double click and hold one of the sides of the column go back and forth and that will change the width of each cell in that one column

i want the row to be automatically changed according to the length of the text using the automatic row height option. ...
it works with one row , but when i am merging few rows from several columns into one row, then the automatic row height function does not works ...


hope that explanation was better ...

If you want the row to auto increase height then you can't merge rows or columns at all.

Merging for just looks purpose is not the best practice in excel. Try instead using text alignment setting of "Center across selection" in format cells menu, be aware this is just for horizontal alignment and there is nothing for vertical alignment
