How to purchase from a US-based website, from Canada?
 

I'm in Canada. And I'd like to purchase an exclusive item from example.com and have it shipped to a US PO box near the border.

However, when I try going to example.com, it re-directs me to example.ca where the item isn't available.

This would mean I need a US IP address, correct? Options to do this: proxy, VPN, VPS.

I figured using PayPal would be a disaster because they'd likely cancel the purchase and limit my account, understandably, since PayPal would view the activity as suspicious.

Credit card is my other option for payment. But I'm not so sure about how safe it would be to use my credit card info through a proxy or VPN. What about a VPS?

How would you reccomend I make this purchase?

If the website doesn't ship to Canada then you need to have the item sent to a U.S. based address then have that person ship it to you.

oh... i thought the OP meant that he can not even make a purchase because of using Canadian info such as the IP?

Like there's a block on the IP?

Or do I need more coffee?

Seems like the site is screening based on IP - US VPS should do the trick.

Just get VPN if you need it for just purchasing. You can find free VPN credentials out there. VPS are paid as far as I know. But ye, your only option would be to purchase using US IP address. Safety? Well, not sure but if you pay via CC and someone frauds you can always claim it and 99% you will be reimbursed for the amount.

If the site is reputable, safety should be fine
