Wonderful day when to ****

Just broke my iPhone 6 128gb. Dropped it in the toilet actually when trying to put it in my pocket. Home button stopped working then just totally shut off. Was jailbroken and I used it for my accounts for IP address.. Looks like I know what my next 'investment' is...

And I guess I'll be subscribing for dedicated IPs tonight because I've made some sales on accounts and need to get on them.

Almost in tears LOL. Very frustrating

terrible day!!!! :(

No jokes but Leave it in a bowl of rice overnight.
I know a few people who have saved a iphone this way, there are even videos on the internet with this method.

Rather than the rice method, as rice tends to take a little longer and allows the water to do damage while its in there, you should take a blowdryer to it and do as many heat/cold cycles as you can. Get that water out completely before trying to power it back on

I'll try. Don't know if this one is savable. My family members had water damage and immediately shut off... This one was slow and features became unresponsive then tried to reboot about 5 times and failing each time. Red screens (never herd of this before).

I'll do blow dryer then rice overnight. Figuring out my ATT sign in info and hoping to god I have insurance!!!!! Don't remember haha

I've done it over 10 times maybe? Not on my phone alone, but family members phones.
Works every single time.

The phones have been dropped to: bath, toilet, rum and coke, orange juice, sink, puddle and cats water bowl.

The way I do it is quite simple: Take a plastic box that is resealable- Either a lunch box or takeaway box or something. Fill it with rice, pop that scubadiver in there, seal the lid and leave it for 24 hours, take it out and put it on top of a radiator for couple of hours, pop back to the rice box for another 24 hours.

Been doing it since iPhone 4 and never fails me.

:amen:

Ummm... I heard that if you put it in the microwave, it will charge the battery. It should dry it out too...

I've done this before, only the most recent time it ended up in the washing machine, phoned insurance and all they wanted to know was, who put in the jeans pocket it was in, because that was me and I said it was me, they wouldn't pay out! If anyone else had put it in my pocket before I put in the washer then they would have paid out !

Re: Wonderful day when to ****

I swear att insurance didn't cover water damage and called today and they said I was fully insured!

But, reading that... should I blame it getting wet on someone else when it tells me to describe what happened? What should I say? Lol

well either way, im sure they will find out it is water damage when they open the phone.

Unless you are lucky enough for them to just replace the phone.

Well I'm for sure saying its water damaged... just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to word the reasoning to make the water damage not my fault :bounce:

Whatever you say, don't say it was your fault from my experience!!

Re: Wonderful day when to ****

Processed the claim online and it'll take 24hrs to process.. then I have to ship them the phone (Probably UPS ground/First Class etc.) then they have to inspect it and process more.. then they'll send me the exact replacement. I think it's going to be around two weeks unfortunately!!:mad2:

One of the forum members is currently convincing me to a verizon flashed mifi so I might buy one of those tonight. It'll be better to use longterm as I continue to grow anyways :)

No blow job!!!!

Raw white rice.

Leave for at least 72 hours.

Make sure you do not touch or fiddle with anything.

Hope that helps.

 You lied, jeff'? You actually lied about electricity power??

xShevaa7x 03-23-2015 09:10 PM

Re: Wonderful day when to ****

Best advice for anything electrical that gets wet is don't try and turn it on, just leave it for a few days/week to air off naturally. I don't know how much of the casing you can take off an iphone, never had one, but any that you can would help.

What's wrong with blow jobs? Don't discriminate!
So I write down 48 hours, and you still have to go and better me with 72? Not fair.:violin:

I'm pretty sure Italians were the ones to invent the famous splish-plop.

HA!

Rice method worked to an extent. Got it to turn on but screen was still messed up pretty bad. Replaced it and I'm back to normal with phone tethering

I'm still considering using a Mifi though and that will probably be my next stealth investment

I once dropped my old iphone in a pool a couple years back and was able to get it working 100% using the rice method, but I think the key is to turn it off immediately after dropping it in the water and not keep trying to turn it on

But glad you got the replacement!

That's the right way with anything like phones, tablets, desktops or laptops. If it's not turned on when you drop it in water, wait and don't turn it on for at least half a week. You can then turn it on and it should in most cases work perfectly fine, just make sure no water is hiding in between the battery or other removable components.

If it was turned on, kill the power and do the same as above. You have less chance of it working, but it's possible.

You could chuck a laptop into a swimming pool, then leave it to dry by taking it apart and waiting over a week. It's more likely it will work when you turn it on.

It doesn't really matter if components get wet when they're turned off, but if they're wet whilst in use.. probably going to fry.

Definitely noted and thanks to everyone for the great advice. Hopefully this won't happen again!
