Fast Router

I need a New router, We currently have 5 computers and 1 PS3 system running off the current router that i got. The signal seems to be getting lower and lower and its been a pain in the ass recently.

The router is located in the boiler room in the basement and the signal travels everywhere in the house including the computers on the 2nd floor.

What is the best and fastest Wireless router out there that would fit my needs?

I believe the only reason the signal is getting lower and lower because of the following

1. Its in the boiler room

2. Its getting cold outside

3. since its getting cold outside you use the furnace and other electrical appliances more often

which

4. Interferes with your router signals.. Its called EMI

So do this..

5. Relocate your router somewhere else and the speed will improve

We have central air and its been doing this in the summer as well but it has beena lot worse recently, Over the past month or so.

We already did try moving it to the 2nd floor but had the same results.

So you dont think upgrading to a better router will make a difference? The wireless N routers any good? If i get a new one i wanna go all out and get the best one out there.

I dont know much about this stuff so will there even be much difference between a $40 router compared to a $120 one?

heres a few details

pros

* At or near the top on most performance tests
* Backward compatible with 802.11g
* Excels in mixed networks
* Gaming-priority mode
* Doesn't conflict with other wireless devices
* Gigabit Ethernet

cons

* Web interface confusing
* USB ports don't support storage or print sharing
* Expensive
