whats really sad/hypocritical is "some" people don't really care about all the death and carnage and war going on around the world UNTIL it reaches their doorstep then they want to cry wolf. :smash:

You don't understand what "crying wolf" means, do you?

I gotta say man.. I see a lot of your posts on here, and you always sound like you're 13. It's amazing how much of a difference proper punctuation and capitalization makes when you're communicating online.

We always donate to the food bank and we also have a group here that gives gifts to animal shelters. Little things to make the holidays a little happier for the dogs, cats and other animals.

You would be surprised how far some catnip, toys and treats go. Every year, my family gives 100 lbs of catnip, GOOD catnip, from our inventory. Other people donate chew toys, milkbones, or whatever else they can. We buy small boxes for the cats too - cardboard one that become "their" space and makes them feel more comfortable, especially when they are adopted, because the box goes home with them and makes them feel more secure in their new environment. The company that sells those wanted like $8 per box. When I got done on the phone with them, they gave them to us for $2 each.

Our group donates all year, but Christmas time is special. We pull out all the stops and some of the kids of the parents involved in the group even give some of their Christmas cash. They can see firsthand that their $5 will buy like 30 meals. It teaches them the importance of not only thinking of yourself. I wish there was a group like this in EVERY city.

Doing something does not have to be big. Don't think that you can't make a difference because you are not wealthy. Everyone in our group is average, we don't have any millionaires funding us. We are just people who wanted to do something locally.

Yes, you SHOULD still get gifts for the people in your lives. But think of others too. Every year, there are people still hungry at Christmas. Kids with no toys under their trees. People without heat and electricity. Be thankful for what you have and don't be a part of the war on poor people. Because if I have learned anything in my life, it is this - nothing is permanent. One day you can be very comfortable financially and the next day you can be scrounging for pennies. Life throws us curve balls. You CAN get sick, or lose your job, or whatever. Don't think it cannot happen to you, because YES IT CAN!

OK... stepping off of the soapbox now...

Great to hear people thinking of the shelter animals this time of year! I have many years of background in shelter work and I just wanted to say that some of the best cat toys to donate are the little furry mice that come in packs of 12 or so. Of all the great toys donated those little mice always got the most action by far in the places I worked it seemed and they won't break the bank to get enough for each cat to have one.

I am hoping Santa brings me a Nespresso Citiz! Anybody have one? I was wondering if they are as great as the reviews they get.

Caring for shelter animals is cool, and all, but you can save many more, and the world as a whole by becoming Vegan.

Good health.

All the diseases out there scare the crap out of me. Especially cancer. Wish everyone the best who was diagnosed with it.

An end to all of the seemingly endless hatred.
Hearts for the people who have none.

Medical care for those in need.
And end to all of the needless suffering in the world.
An end to all wars.

It may sound corny, but I'm serious.

Before the millennium, a lot of us thought that things would get better once it was ushered in. Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse. And it does not HAVE TO be this way.

This will all happen when pigs fly
