Default Jailbroken iphones

Who's done it?

I did it early yesterday because I has having problems getting my POS Linksys router to work.

It was actually pretty easy to do after some research, and PdaNet was the app that turned my iphone into a 3g wifi connection for my laptop.

And so far from what I've seen it gives me a new IP address each time I connect to it.

I was wondering the same thing..I have my iPhone jailbroken and all of that..But AT&T frowns on tethering your iPhone,

Im still debating if this would be a good option for our purpose of staying stealth.

Well, as a full time connection no I don't think it's a good idea.

But for the occasional connection I don't see a problem with it.

Aspkin is onto something here. Linking your computer to access the internet through your cell phone is called "tethering." You can pretty much do it through any phone that accesses the internet, however, only a phone with 3G will enable fast enough speeds.

I know of a couple of forums that explain the process. I will post later...

i use my Sprint Mogul's "Internet Sharing" (comes with most windows mobile phones) app for my other accounts. Never get the same IP + really fast speed + no extra cost

I never do any software changes to my iPhone. Ever since I screwed up my 2g iPhone I don't play with those things. I finally fixed my 2g iPhone and quickly went and got a warranty replacement.

The software that unlocked my phone was pretty solid. I basically followed these guides:

JailBreak iPhone, JailBreak iPhone 3G

Easy stuff, and once you jailbreak you phone you can download new apps like PdaNet.

I've used it dozens of times now, and haven't had a problem yet.

It's even easier to unlock the iphone with certain techniques. No need to go through all those steps. I don't want to void my warranty so I would rather not jailbreak my phone. The iphone 3g has always been having problems. I have had to get a warranty exchange two times already.

I use my phone too much. I had more than 15gb of recieved data on my phone in little bit more than a year. Most people don't even get to 2-3gb. The iPhone can not handle a heavy work load like a blackberry or nokia can. I'm going to be getting a blackberry bold very soon. I like how it look and feels!

Has anyone had any experience with these hacks work for a G1 (Google Phone)? This might be the long term answer to my "sticky" IP problem with AT&T.

I found these links, but would like to hear if anyone's personally tethered a G1. I would hate to break it.

Lots of steps with it.

Guide to tethering T-Mobile G1

I have an iPhone so I can't tell you how G1 will be, but if everything works out it looks like it will work just as well as iPhone tethering.

It's pretty easy, very easy with Vista.

I can get a new connection setup for my laptop in less then 30 seconds.

iPhones have cookies, I don't use mine for eBay or PayPal.

I just use it's 3G connection for my laptop and work from there.

Default Blackberry tethering and creating new accounts

I was planning on using my laptop tethered to my Blackberry for internet to create my additional stealth accounts. I figure I can simply log off, clear the laptop with CCleaner then connect again and create the new ID? I verified with Verizon today that each time logging on is a new Ip address, so think I am good to go. Am I missing something? Does a Blackberry have cookies and would that even be a factor as I am just using it for internet....

I was even thinking of tethering my desktop computer to switch between accounts (will be kept under different users in Windows) when accessing ebay to ship orders. it seems like an easy way to keep changing my Ip safely.

Thanks for your assistance!

I have used this method for the past few months, and it seems to be working great for me. Yes; Blackberry's do save cookies, and if you have flash on your phone, they will be saved also. You should be able to clear the cookies/flash objects within the phone menu tree someplace.

If you are only using the connection for your laptop/desktop, cookies/flash objects aren't really a factor since you aren't using the phones internet browser.

Hope this helps explain things better.

Thanks so much for clarifying. I do know how to erase the phones internet browser cookies. I don't really use the Blackberry to log onto ebay, but do use it to go into my paypal accounts as well as to open emails from Member@ebay.com both of which I assume are dangerous without clearing cookies. It is great to hear that I don't have to worry about them if just connecting through to the net through the laptop. It really seems to make switching ID so incredibly easy. Thanks for the reassurance!
