R.I.P. David Bowie

Due to my age I mostly recognise him for his 80's music but he was an important part of music while I was growing up. Also played an important role in Labyrinth, one of my childhood movies.

A huge loss for us to bear.

I read the news a few minutes before your post.

A great loss indeed. I was not a huge Bowie fan but, since I am quite vintage too ;) , I grow up with his music from Heroes onwards.

He was a grat artist... §I enjoyed Labyrinth in my childwood and I was very young when I saw "The Man Who Fell to Earth"... that scared me a lot.

I'll miss him.

Re: R.I.P. David Bowie

Absolutely a huge shock for many, tv is full of memories of him this morning, many celebs commenting on his influence over their early years and the 80's and 90's. Crazy how he was viewed back in 70's and 80's, the years when teenagers where still finding their own way and parents thought he had a screw loose but youngsters thought he was miraculous.

He was a regular on Top of the Pops in the 70's and he could even have been hired for Student Union disco's which looking back in the years since seemed as ethereal as the guy himself was, RIP the thin white duke.

PS hey ilcarletto your not vintage you only go back to Heroes!, I can beat you there, was never really a big fan of the ziggy stardust days, Major Tom was my and many others all time favourite from his early days. Somewhere here have a copy of The Laughing Gnome which was a really early recording off his, will have to dig it out.

Re: R.I.P. David Bowie

Saw him live (Ziggy Stardust) when I was a teen. I was like Don McLean in the "American Pie" song seeing the Rolling Stones for the first time. "My hands were clenched in fists of rage. No angel born in hell. Could break that Satan's spell".

It was amazing

IMO, The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Hunger were the definitive Bowie movies.
