Bent USB
 

Any of you ever had to fix a USB flashdrive?

I'm not taking it to best buy because they want to charge me over $300 which is ridiculous.

Its a cheap $10 usb made out of pathetic plastic. I very very stupidly kept all my business backed up on it and because my old laptop broke all my info is stored on it.

I just called outsourcedatarecovery...I gotta imagine there is SOME PLACE that you can walk in a get it fixed? Or do you know of any other low key places that aren't on googles first page when you search for "broken usb recovery"

So what happens when you plug it in? It doesn't get recognized?

No. I think I secretly like to purposely make my life harder then it needs to be.

So I put my sh1tty "laptop" in my backpack with the flash drive still connected to the usb drive and was off to star bucks too finish work.. I sit down with my nice hot chocolate, warm food...open my backpack and surprise my usb is no longer connected to my laptop but bent.

It really wasn't bent that much but the part that plugs in to the usb drive is usually thin (metal?) mine is plastic. That part is what got bent. I took it to bestbuy and they just told me they would send it off to get fixed for $250+.

I then decided to try a DIY and failed, badly. It sounds worse reading but I cracked it slightly. I have no idea how but I gotta imagine there is someway to retrieve the information. I have ALL my business receipts, part of my inventory... need I say more?

There's tons of computer repair guys that will do it for CHEAP on craigslist

Sh1t. I just found a listing for $70 which is $30 bucks cheaper than that outsourcedata website.

I guess I keep looking, thanks!
