In Italy we use to buy, and give as a present, the mimose flowers to all the women today.

This bright yellow flower is the simbol of the 8th of March.

i think holidays are mostly stupid ideas. do we really need fathers/mothers day? presidents day? do we really need a black histor month? just my opinion.

Holidays are not stupid. Some are commemorative for different reasons: religious or, better, for important events that needs to be kept for knowing what happened in the past and the reason why we have some degree of freedom.

Others holidays are quite useless but keep your business running nicely [quite important too right?]
