Home phone service is a dead industry. As a resource investor I hear people talk about buying Coal and stuff like Peabody which use to be $100 and now is like $1 or $2. Its a dead industry.

I would rather speculate day trade on commodity stock. For example FCUUF Fission Uranium I have bought and sold this stock 5 times over the past several months. Until two days ago it traded between a .45 cent and .50 range. Would buy at like .46 and always sell at .50. Commodities especially Gold and Silver are easier to trade. They always kill the market near the close on Friday so they can sleep good over the weekend.

No where in the my post I said this was long term. I said "day trade" means I can exit within a day. I could care less what happens in the home phone industry. I care about taking advantage of the momentum and swing of the stock's price so I can make money. If you don't understand this, you belong to investing for the long term.

I wish I could day trade... I have about 30k to play with that if I lose it would not affect my lifestyle... I just don't have the time...

I go mostly long....

When Dow went down 2000 points all my funds...and few equities... went down with them...

I just went big on gold... Now a good percentage recovered where my funds are up again for the year and my gold purchase up 48%

I also put some more $ into the funds that dropped more then 12%...

So far a nice recovery...

I'm thinking of going long on some of the giants

I don't see value on the companies you just mentioned. I see value on big oil companies that got pummeled 70-90% from their highs. Do you research and pick one that has the least debt.

Oil looks overpriced for the current environment. OPEC isn't going to cut production and Iran hasn't even come back online yet. They have talked up the price of oil with all these phantom meetings. OPEC is so messed up they can't even agree on the color of name tags at the meeting or the lunch menu. Simple supply and demand. Once oil hits $25 I am interested in some of larger plays. Mostly the Russian conglomerates Lukoil and Gazprom. Russia is about third lowest cost producer behind the Suadis and Iran.

Been accumulating Junior mining and exploration shares. Mostly the Micro-Cap or Nano Cap stocks. Also known as Penny Stocks. If this Gold Bull market really takes off I see lots of 10-20x returns on these.

Personally, I have exited US equities otherwise. The valuations are too crazy. Share Buybacks and mergers and acquisitions have been propping up the market. I expect a US recession in the 6-10 months. General equities should fall but who knows with the Plunge Protection Team always out there buying up S&P futures to save the market.
