Why I Should go to Hollywood...
 

I swear, I should pack up everything and move to Hollywood. To work in the industry. I think I wold do an amazing job and prove myself to be a vital asset to the entertainment industry.

But not as an actor.

As an advisor.

They could show me the pilot episodes of television shows. If I like it, then they should never order that TV series. If I hate it, it is the next big hit.

I swear, it seems like any show that I like is going to end up cancelled.

My favorite TV show of all time was Jericho. Cancelled after one season, although it WAS brought back for 6 more episodes after we flooded CBS's offices with nuts. A few tons of nuts.

I just found out that "Proof" was cancelled. It was a very interesting show, about a Bill Gates type guy with a gazillion dollars in tech money who is diagnosed with cancer and hires a doctor to find out what happens after death, if anything. Every episode seemed to have a twist to it. It wasn't exactly highbrow, but it was more intelligent than most shows.

And now it is gone after the first season. In this case, all of six episodes. What ever happened to the 24 episode season? How can they hope to keep people interested when the show airs for all of six weeks a year???

Oh, well...

Too many shows get cancelled because the networks don't make enough profit from them airing, and they know they'll make more profit showing Real Housewives of (insert city here).

If networks are going to cancel the episodes they already taped, they should at least put them on their websites for people that liked the show to enjoy.

Old fashioned television is gone, indie films, YouTube, Netflix exclusives, along with all the other entertainment in foreign languages available for free is the present and the future. If you really want old fashioned television, the Sony PlayStation vue looks like that's going to be the next big thing to maintain those fossils, like like nbc cbs ESPN etc.

I think the future is looking bright for entertainment actually with the reasons I stated above.

Jericho was a great show, i just watched it for the first time last year when i found it on Netflix , i got to watch the entire series without waiting every week which was nice.

I don't ever remember it being on tv before.

I also watched proof but didn't like it

This is sort of the reason me and the bf gave up TV.

There are good programs out there, but they are drowned out in trash. Reality TV became a big hit among what I can only imagine to be the unemployed, and so good television died a death. The only thing I miss about TV is the comedian panel shows.

Get into gaming, there are amazing stories and stunning visuals in the gaming world if you know what to play :)

I don't watch too much tv either but I have been trying to follow Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Gotham (superhero genre hah) - I loved comedies before but I can't get into them anymore.

i watched ghosthunters for the first six years. it got really boring.

supergirl is surprisingly good.
better call saul is good but a little slow.
fear/walking dead ill watch any day.

as for shows that got cancelled. the one that comes to mind most is symbiotic titan. it was on about six years ago and was created by genndy tartosvky (sp).

The show that I liked that got canceled after 13 shows was "last resort". It had promise but not too many viewers.

Another was Babylon 5 "Crusade" but that was over 13 years ago. That show was cancelled because The Sci Fi network wanted more control over the show and instead they started to show wrestling shows instead, so cancelled.

I watch, The big Bang theory but that show has lost its original nerdiness to it. The walking dead or fear, better call saul is what I like. Shameless, Orange is the new black. And reruns of "that 70's show" is still good.

I guess I better get back to playing fallout 4 or war thunder.

Is no one going to mention Vikings? or Game of Thrones?
Ok - I just did. Both great shows.
Also, the Netflix Marvel series. Daredevil and Jessica Jones and the upcoming Luke Cage, Iron Fist and recently added Punisher all culminating in the 'avengers style team up' of the Defenders.
Also, big fan of the flash which has turned out to be a really good show that ends almost every episode with a great cliffhanger which I love. Arrow Im not crazy about.
But what Im REALLY looking forward to is the evolution of entertainment which is starting these days with VR based programing. Now THAT is going to be fun!

One day years ago, it was casual day at the office, I was in a meeting with mostly of the top people in the company. David, the VP, was always throwing curve-ball questions.

So, I put my hand in the back pocket of my jeans and said, "Dave, do these pants make me look fat?"

Everyone laughed. Dave's reply? "It's not the jeans that make you look fat, it is your ASS that makes you look fat."

I disagree.
It will take time for it to get going but I believe its the future of entertainment.
If/when you try it youll understand what Im talking about. Its an experience that cannot be described.

I saw the pilot episode of Supergirl. It looks ok, but it is also a tired formula.

I don't watch much TV, to be honest. Most of the shows these days are the reality shows and I HATE THEM! They are all the same thing: People behaving like a bunch of selfish, self-absorbed MORONS. The only one I ever saw that I like was the one with Gene Simmons. It was a reality show, but it was very funny. And they really didn't play to the lowest common denominator like the Osbournes did. I watched that one too, but only because of Sharon Osbourne.

I started liking Helix. And the "Fear the Walking Dead" series I like.

When I was a kid I loved sitcoms. Now I can't stand them. It is all the same things over and over, just with different people.

If anyone can recommend some good sci-fi or thriller type shows, I like those. But a lot of the time I watch TV I end up watching Discover or the Hitler Channel. OOPS... I meant, The HISTORY channel.


Or a movie. Some TV movies are not too bad. But some of those are awful as well.

I guess this is just what happens as you get older.

Yes. I totally agree. And the killer app for virtual reality? XXX rated VR along with the virtual genital mitt....

It will give many people the opportunity to have virtual sex with people they would never have a chance with in the real world.

I know some of you are thinking I just have a dirty mind, but the fact is, X rated entertainment is what drove the growth of VHS in the beginning. Back then, Hollywood was not releasing anything on tape. In fact. Disney and Universal had filed lawsuits in an attempt to stop video records from reaching the mass market. They said it would be open season on their copyrights.

Before the VCR, if you wanted to see adult movies, you had to go to an adult theater, which put a lot of people off. But when they could bring it home and watch it there, it just took off.
