PayPal to halt operations in Turkey after losing license, impacts ‘hundreds of thousands’

Turkey has been making moves to bring tech business in the country under more localized control, and today big U.S. online payments company PayPal became the latest casualty. The company announced that it is suspending business operations in Turkey effective June 6, after failing to obtain a new license for its services.

The closure, PayPal told TechCrunch, will affect tens of thousands of businesses and hundreds of thousands of consumers.

A spokesperson confirmed the closure and also the reason behind it in two separate statements to TechCrunch.

We live in 2016 but our leaders still have a mentality that belonds to 1966. Such a shame.

I hope I see the day during my lifetime where we don't have borders and countries, the day when we realise that we are just people- Doesn't matter where.
Instead of thinking as individuals we should remind ourselves that the only individual we have here is the planet that we live on- We are just parasites that live on it.

We should share and build the new world together, not act like 12 year old girls who don't want to share toys.

So stupid.
