Royal mail business account

Hi,
Hope to get some advise here.

I am thinking of opening a business account with royal mail for a couple of my accounts because of cheaper international shipping. Key concerns are:

1) Do i apply in real details and will they need details of the account the business will be run from.
2) Do royal mail/ebay/paypal share information.
3) What turnover do i need to be accepted.
4) Do royal mail notify HMRC, as i am already running a business and registered with a UTR number.

I want to continue with my usual courier for uk delivery due to tracking provided, but to expensive for international shipping.

Any advise appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Royal mail business account

CLICK AND DROP
https://parcel.royalmail.com/

Its perfect for multiple ebay accounts and integrates with all of them.

you register with your business name and current address.

To qualify for free collections 6 days a week you need to spend £15k a year for free collections from your address.
otherwise you have pay a year subscription which is £897- £1000
but once you reach the 15k they refund the subscription back to you.

If you dont do the above, you can still drop them off at the post office.

use first class recorded mail and i save 18p per parcel using the business account (there are other discounts)

Re: Royal mail business account

With regards to the Royal Mail collections you have 2 choices. (I have focused on weekday collections)

* They collect daily at a time that suits Royal Mail for £787
* They collect daily at a time that you specify for £1792

Since that makes a difference of over £1000 to have a collection made at a time convenient to you, it also gives you an opportunity to save over £1000 - if you get lucky.

If you opt for a collection that suits Royal Mail, they will collect at the same time as other businesses local to you so it i possible to use this to your advantage as the other businesses will probably want (and be paying the premium) to have their mail collected at the end of the business day.

Ask your postman to find out for you when other local collections take place and unless they are an idiot they should oblige. I asked my postman and it turns out that the nursing home up the road has a paid collection at 5pm, so that is when my mail would be collected. awesome, that is when I would want it collected.

I operate from an industrial estate so you might have a little less luck if working from a residential area but it is definitely worth asking as that is quite a saving. I bet there are thousands of businesses paying the premium unnecessarily. My postman also mentioned that most schools, hospitals etc have their mail collected so you have a great chance if you are close to one.

£1000 in my back pocket thanks!

As an aside, I checked out click n drop and the prices were more than I pay through my franking machine so that may be something to look into as well.
