I spoke with Julie Dawn Cole who played Veruca Salt in the original film today as she is a close friend of mine, and she was as sad as I was to hear of the news.
Great actor and personality, he will be missed !

Hi rsot,

She was a councillor for bereaved children and she left this job 3 months ago to run a hospice for Cancer Patients.
She left acting some years ago but still does all the conventions and comic cons around the country and in the states.

When the other cast member from Wonka come to England they all go out for a slap up dinner before a convention the next day and I always go along to the dinner coz I get invited they are all a smashing bunch of characters.
