Shipping discussion section.

I always see people posting shipping questions including myself in the "eBay Discussion!" board. There will be a lot of good information in a shipping and handling board, after all it is a large percentage of the business. We or a drop shipping company ships merchandise everyday for an eBay business, a shipping discussion board would help all of us especially for those who have suppliers from overseas.

Also customs problems and questions could be answered here, if I do a search on "customs" there are pages and pages of questions regarding shipping, importing, exporting, shipping companies (USPS, DHL, EMS, FedEX). I bet a large portion of the community would also appreciate tips and tricks of the trade that the more experienced sellers know of.

Thanks for the consideration.

Sounds good, how about I start it off with a nice question like this one "If I'm dropshipping to the US and my supplier is overseas, what should I put for my item location as: Chicago, U.K., Australia or none of the above?" If you get it right you get free coffee on me you'll have to pay for your own plane ticket over to get it though.

That's exactly the question I had in mind along with others. I was thinking about drop shipping wedding gowns and flower girl dresses to here in the US from China but, I have no idea how that would work.

To answer that question though I would assume you put the location where the item is coming from because won't the customer find out anyway? Every time I get a shipment from overseas it says exactly where the item came from on the box.

Yeah it does but not everybody pays attention to that, due to the longer shipping time I usually put an overseas country like UK or something, I don't like to put China that might get ebay a little suspicious and if you're thinking about wedding gowns you would defenitly want a sample one first to make sure its good enough quality.

What you are talking about is not a shipping problem. It's a listing problem.
Seller sorts out how to buy & gets the items shipped by whatever means. They then need to know how to list such an item:pop2:

It's still related to shipping since a customer might ask whats taking so long with their package when the item location says Cali and it's still hasn't even left China, shipping and listing are interlinked, we can start another thread on logic if you want just let me know.

There is yet another shipping question in the eBay Discussion! main forum titled:
How does EMS ship in USA?

Actually after taking a look at the discussions in the eBay Discussion! board there are five potential threads on the front page that could be placed in a shipping discussion board:
How does EMS ship in USA?
Package held in custom and will not release
Weird Confirmed address should I ship to it?
Buyers from your home state
EMS=No Good?

teedon 05-31-2010 07:07 AM

EMS is good, but if your goods be seized,it will be not good

tbeezy 05-31-2010 07:03 PM

I was wondering if I put USA as my shipping location and i dropship something from China, would it be okay if i just state shipping will take 5-15 business days?

jbluntz 05-31-2010 09:11 PM

I've done that before, they'll get suspicious when they find out it's being sent EMS, it just looks better to put a country overseas.

teedon 06-09-2010 10:01 AM

yes,it is dangerious if they find it out.It is better you buy the goods in bulk and shipping from your warehouse, this way will safe much shipping cost and save much time. You can order small quantity firstly if you do not want stock much

Good suggestion, thanks.

Hopefully soon I'll have time to make these changes and more to the forum. There are a few other things I want to add as well.
