Thinking of..

Setting up a promotion where after so many posts a person has free access to the forum, no more subscriber fees.

I think 100 posts is good.

If you have 100 posts in the forum, you're set.

What do you guys think?

Here We Go Again 02-19-2009 05:54 PM

Not a bad idea...
BUT
You will get the people who will post 101 times with nothing but "HELLO"
Some dumb stuff...
Just like they do to get past the post requirement so that they can post in "Buy, Sell or Trade"
It will help but it would also hurt...

My 2 cents

aspkin 02-19-2009 05:58 PM

Well have to set a rule of quality content only, no spamming.

Here We Go Again 02-19-2009 06:01 PM

Can you set a time duration along with the post count?
100 post in 3 days.... no good
BUT
100 post in hmumm..... 1 week 10 days?.... good?

See where I am going??

GreenBean 02-19-2009 06:09 PM

imo, it would need to be longer than that if at all. We have a lot of 5 post wonders who get help with replies from users here that take their knowledge and run. How many posters have there been that disappear when they are up and running? (No problem with that per se) but will be back free if there are more changes in ebay/paypal. The core of users that go out of their way to help newbies merit recognition. Free access might be better for them. Just my two cents worth.

aspkin 02-19-2009 06:22 PM

Right, and the reason for suggesting it.

There can be a time limit as well. I think two months would be good.

So is 100 posts good, plus something like two months minimum registered?

GreenBean 02-19-2009 06:33 PM

:hs: Sounds fine. Leave it with you to 'hone' then.

JamesYaBaoy 02-19-2009 06:55 PM

How many posts do have

Okay, I'll set it up tomorrow.

I'm having ISP issues at the moment.

If I post 101 times with semi quality posts, just quality enough to get under the radar-Will you leave it a few days then close me down for 30 days for Post Count Manipulation?
That would be ironic

aking 02-20-2009 12:33 AM

Hmmm, seems too easy for "outsiders" to have access to information. <scratches head>

Jonas 02-20-2009 01:44 AM

If it's too easy, it can always be set higher. Lots of members have far over 100 posts.

Lol... you buy cheap ebooks here, you'll get slapped. :slap:

No, what I mean is... if you post like...

Thanks, that's great..
That's a great post, thank you.

Etc.. small, no help posts

And you do this a lot just to increase your post count, then yeah that would call for being slapped.

Spam is easily found.

You might also consider throwing in a "thanks" requirement. Say 100 posts and 5 thanks to gain free access. That might be a better judge of the quality of the 100 posts.

aspkin 02-20-2009 06:52 PM

I'm going to create a new usergroup for these members.. any name suggestions?

I'm thinking something pro..

Pro.. dunno

aspkin 02-20-2009 07:08 PM

Ah.. Executive VIP ?

yaw1800 02-20-2009 07:24 PM

Premee (premature) VIP lol....
New school VIP?
Privileged VIP (not too shabby if i must say)

aspkin 02-20-2009 07:26 PM

privileged vip makes sense.. but sounds.. http://www.thecenternetwork.com/foru...t/gay_hand.gif

aspkin 02-20-2009 08:42 PM

Okay, it's set.

To become an Executive [VIP] member you must have:
  • 150 QUALITY Posts
  • Been registered to the forum a minimum of three months
  • And you must first be a Subscribed member
That's it. :)

The system will auto upgrade member profiles.

The benefits of being an Executive VIP member is free unlimited access to the forum forever, and I'm sure I'll think of something else later on.

Maybe a private section just for executive members.

*checks off 'setup new usergroup' on to-do list

highwhey 02-21-2009 01:14 AM

I like my new title :)
