Ever since I joined this forum I've been getting a record amount of scammers sending stuff to my email address, but that's not all, I have also seen numerous spam messages like never before! but then that's still not it, I am now getting calls to my wifi only cell phone, all of this started the minute I posted my email address to join up with this forum!

I never had 1 single nigerian banker message prior to that, now I get 4 a day or more, my phone constantly rings with idiots who say nothing and hang up. never did before.

there's a serious data leak going on here or someones hacking this site or you guys sell our info all of these could be correct but I'm guessing it's the last one.

That's a bold claim.

The minute you joined the forums.. you started getting phone calls from nigerian bankers?

If you seriously have issues with spam from the forum, please send me details so I can look into it. We try to minimize that as much as possible.

Never had any such problems after joining this forum myself. OP, you may have just signed up for this forum at about the same time you signed up for one that "sold" farmed out, or otherwise dispersed or published your information.:welcome;

I had my laptop taken over by a Chinese person using a teamviewer virus right around the time I joined this place for the first time. I only remember because I was first getting into stealth.

I have no reason to believe this forum caused that though. I'm pretty sure it was a bad copy of Paragon hard disk manager, lol.

Why would you use your real personal email or phone number to sign up here anyway?

I cant remember having to sign up with a phone number... hmm...

Been a member for nearly 4 years now, not once got spam mail though.

Welcome to the forums OP. Sad to hear that you are being bombarded by this but I have not had this happening to my e-mail/comp since joining the forum - just my own experience on this matter.

Interesting to see Nigerian scammers upping their game by deriving phone numbers from emails.

Getting your email might be possible though I never got such spam after I signed up but how would they know your phone number if the forum doesn't ask for it when you sign up?

zinda, you'd better check security of your PC/connection.

Get yourself a good antivirus and run it twice.

I have never received SPAM from the forum or because of the forum. Yes, I get SPAM like everyone else, but the forum is not the causation.

I uninstalled Teamviewer from all my machines as a result.

This is the only thing I signed up for at this time I usually never sign up for any forum talk at all. I mostly find my answers by reading tons of posts. This was not the case with my question I had to ask hear. As for the phone number that is only 1 part of the constant barrage. My email address used to have 1 or 2 spam messages from ads a month, since I never sign up for anything i never had a problem. Now I get 10 or more per day all starting directly after I received a reply to my post, actually there were 2 replies in a row and I never even had a chance to read either of them. I spent so much time clearing out spam that built up that I never did get back to what i set out to do. I started listing on Craigs list about 2 weeks before I joined up here and I never saw anything new show up except for the usual replies back from sales posted telling me that my items were now posted and buyers contacting me.

I was shocked at how many replies I got from my ads and then when I returned to answer a bunch of messages I saw the 2 replies from here and then a list of scams and advertisements. I have been registered on Craigslist for 4 years and never had anything strange happen so i ruled them out. it's not like I just signed up there. I just haven't had any new posts for a year of so. most posts went without sales and I just dropped selling there. but recently with so many bad buyers on ebay costing me tons of money on high dollar returns for no reason I decided to try craigslist again to get rid of 100's of audio components that I have in stock now. basically anything that costs over $15 to ship on ebay will need to be sold locally to avoid the problems.

This is how this all unfolded and I came to my conclusion, I have no proof other than what I have explained here and as I said I can only assume that it originated here. Based on what I have done and the timing I have no other explanation. The phone calls were checked on the reverse phone look up site to report callers who others have also been getting calls. The numbers were listed there That's how I know they are not worth answering. I hope I have explained this thoroughly. You may or may not see how I came to my conclusion and I'm willing to listen to any comments.

I have ran a few scans with a couple different AV programs. I got an new router too, I was going to see If i can easily change my IP address with the different routers connected to different nic cards, have each one set up with a different browser that connects to ebay and payapl through their own preset login to keep accounts separated. I haven't had time to check if i get a new IP posted when i swap between the cards. i can simply disable one and enable the other. If I ran a switch right off my modem can i use it to control each router to keep me from swapping out the cable modems output? Both routers have a Firewall built in. I also have few older wired Netgear VPN NAT routers with secure firewalls that could be ran as switches.

AI never meant to step on so many toes with my post I just wanted to see if I was alone on this one. :peace:

ok, here's the issue.

you versus tens of thousands of others who have joined here.

you're the only one making these claims. the odds are stacked to the heavens against you.

and as for you "spending so much time" to clear out your spam folder...you make it sound as if you literally went and deleted each one individually when every major email service in existence can delete all spam with the click of one button.

now you say you get spam messages when people reply to your posts on this forum? c'mon now, you are really taking your exaggerated story to the extreme here my friend.

Listen to this then. YOU ARE WRONG.

Your issues are more than likely coming from Craigslist if you have an email address and phone number displayed on your listings.

The owner & moderators of this forum have got better things to do with their time than selling your email address to the highest bidder. Get a grip, ffs.

heh, I call bull****.

I've never had ANY problems with any spam, any emails or any calls. I'm not making this up, but when I signed up for EE services I started getting calls from random places- We are talking big companies who should keep a lid on their data.

Forum causing problems? I'm pretty sure its the shady porn sites that you visit daily.

Well, if you haven't been phone spammed from posting on Craig's List its only a matter of time in my opinion. Sometimes i can post on there with no problems, the next time i get scam calls and text out the wazoo. It can get so bad at times that i will go in and delete the add and re-post differently or without a phone number. I honestly believe that if your thinking that your not going to get any problems off of Craig's List, then you are operating under a naive false sense of security. :argue:

Well I used my email since 1997 since listed on whois for thousands of domains I get lots of spam but its actually going down used get alot more guess people do not target yahoo mail anymore. What I love alot ban Yahoo some say as free most might be free but I have paid version since 2000. I got 1 TB limit doubt see many offer more cost me $20 a year since got grandfathered in rate. Loved Yahoo until current CEO who trying make it like gmail if wanted gmail I use gmail.

This looks like it's from craigslist especially since a phone number is involved and that's not needed on this forum.
