| unkown5454 | 03-01-2017 06:09 PM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it it can just as easily go the other way. dont forget january 2016. many people lost a sh*tton... |
Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it I invested £5k (using a practice account) on one commodity today, which within a mattter of a few hours turned into £9k. I was kicking myself for not putting real money down.
Having said that, yesterday was appalling, nearly everything was in constant decline. |
| JamesNorth101 | 03-01-2017 07:03 PM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it Half the time its a guessing game
You can do all the analysis you want but often it just comes down to luck and investing in the right place at the right time |
| yotano211 | 03-01-2017 07:06 PM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it If you are going with Vanguard, look into the Vanguard 500 Index Fund. It tracks the S&P. The index fund wont bring you glamour but over the long run it tracks the S&P top 500 companies.
I've had since since I was 18(36 now), and it follows the stock market. I have most of my investment money in it. |
| empirestate | 03-01-2017 08:10 PM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it What goes up, must come down. Go short on this market. |

Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it The recent gains appear to be based on speculation rather than real figures. The fact that Trump is a business man is getting a lot of investors excited. The market is overdue for a crash so there may be one coming up soon. |
| unkown5454 | 03-02-2017 02:56 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it SHOP rocketed recently but leveling out. wish i had paid attention. it's just that dumping money into my business is actually guaranteed profits. |

I dont really follow or do research on stocks anymore like when I was a stock analyst. Those days are long gone for me, I put money into index funds and let them do their magic over the long run. Today the only thing i have is that index fund and BRK.B. |
| oompaloompa | 03-04-2017 06:56 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it It is good to do a range of things investments-wise ......
make sure you use 200 day moving average, to avoid big drawdowns when the inevitable next big correction comes.... |
| Haidukken | 03-04-2017 08:48 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it I once tried to invest a little and lost £2.8 in an afternoon. After that I realised that my monkey brain is not ready for that kind of stuff yet.
I'll give it few years and perhaps educate myself next time, before doing dumb **** like that. |

| duffrageous | 03-07-2017 10:10 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it There will always be luck. The market is volatile. An average year with a mixed stock portfolio should net you 5-7% returns. But if you had investments across the S&P 500, you would have netted 12% in 2016. http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/04/most-...he-sp-500.html Quote:

| james13v | 03-08-2017 08:44 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it The stocks that are making those go up so high, are typically the stocks that are already very expensive to get into. |
| vogeltron | 03-11-2017 05:50 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it I have no doubt it can go higher. But when the retail crowd starts getting into stocks is when I choose to exit. It is always the dumb money aka the retail crowd that ends up holding the bag.
As an Anarchist/Libertarian I tend to vote Republican even though I hate government. But if you look at market crashes in the US it tends to be when a Republican is in office and everyone is super optimistic about pro business policies giving each other high fives; which is exactly when the rug gets pulled out from under them. Just something to keep in mind.
I have stop losses on every stock I own. There is nothing wrong with taking a profit and having some funds on the sideline. |

| oompaloompa | 03-12-2017 08:48 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it for those who discussed mining (think it was on another stocks thread), some of it is not ethical, look at the chinese controlled african cobalt mining (for lithium battery production), kids are doomed to a life of slavery, particularly if they are orphans, and kids as young as 4 are working all day, not eating, in all weathers, I saw a sky news report, it was heart-breaking....... |
Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it Anyone short United Airlines stock? |
| james13v | 04-12-2017 07:33 AM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it [QUOTE=rsot;841555]Anyone short United Airlines stock?[/QUOTEalready swinging back up. |
Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it I dont think very many people shorted the stock as I doubt they saw such an impact coming? - I may be wrong.
But either way whoever waited to buy the stock when it plummeted has probably made a little fortune. It was bound to bounce back up with a measly apology from Airline. |
| empirestate | 04-12-2017 08:28 PM | Re: Stock Marketing is Killing it They could have offered more money to convince people but they chose violence. F*ck this airline. |

It's one thing if he did something wrong. But the airlines overbook to make money, and they want to kick off a paying customer, because they screwed up and needed room for employees going somewhere?
People like you are what's wrong with society. You want to accuse him of being entitled, but give the airline a free pass. It would have been cheaper for them to charter a private flight for him ( every day for a year probably) than this mess. |
