Where to get an LLC

Where do I go to get an LLC? I Googled it and there seems to be many websites that you can go through. Which is the best and why?

IRS website is the only place and it is free. If you use those other services, they are just auto populating the free IRS website....

incfile.com usually has solid reviews and the cost is pretty good considering they give you a year of a registered agent

Conflicting answers. Maybe you're thinking about an EIN, Yankee?

This website is only $50, but the State Fee is $308! Is that normal, or is my state just super high?

prices vary for an LLC formation depending on the state, some are cheaper than others etc

The price to register an LLC varies by state, but there's no need for you to pay an extra $50 to have someone fill out a form you can download and fill out yourself.

My state is $110 so yeah yours is a little high. You could consider incorporating in a cheaper state.

Forgive me if paying a registered agent is a part of the AZ stealth process. I've never used a registered agent for any of my LLCs.

This is where I form my LLCs:
SC Business One Stop

This is why I'm asking. Because I don't know where to do it. Thanks for the info, though. I'll check it out

Looks like Texas and Tennessee (Me) are $300. Mass is $500!! So, you can apply in any state that you want, regardless of where you live/ do business?

I don't personally have experience with it but I've seen registering in other states discussed on this forum plenty of times. I believe you would just need a forwarding address or virtual office in whatever state you choose.

All good. I'd like to see if anyone can shed light on this question. What does it require to file in another state?

Re: Where to get an LLC

I've been going through the forums and it seems like there is just a lot to it. Having to file sales tax in the state, etc. Like, consult a professional accountant. Looks like there's so much to it that I might would rather just pay the $300. But, it's actually $300 per yer as well :-(

Re: Where to get an LLC

That's really high considering a lot of states have no annual fee or reporting requirement. I know you're looking for personal experience but here's something to ponder in the mean time. I've been researching and it looks like it's common for online-only businesses to register in one of the "tax-haven" states : WY, NV, or DE.

Quote:

Typically, online businesses choose to incorporate in states that are deemed as "Tax Havens;" Incorporating in Nevada or forming a business in Delaware are the two most commonly chosen solutions.
....
You will need to have either a physical presence or a registered agent in whichever state you choose to incorporate within, and should also be aware of any expenses or fees you will have to pay.
From the 4th paragraph down here : https://www.mycorporation.com/learni...ther-state.jsp

After reading through some of these articles I'm considering reincorporating in NV so I can stop paying state taxes, haha.

Info from legalzoom on same thing : https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/s...le-your-llc-in

That is just EIN, no? I only get EINs from the IRS website.

I register LLCs with my accountant but there are cheaper options out there.

Moved thread to proper forum section.

Re: Where to get an LLC

Yes, sorry, EIN. My mistake.

You can hold off filling your LLC for up to 2 years. Some states such as Georgia you dont have to file unless you break an income threshold.. $300 is not overly expensive compared to NY and CA.

If you need a checking accounts, you will have to file with your state plus pay an expedited fee usually(in most states anyways) to be found quickly in the state registry. If not it could be a few weeks or in MA months.

WY and NV are the go to routes. Both states currently dont have any corporate taxes just the minimum fee.

"a physical presence or a registered agent". How does this work? How can I have a presence or agent in a random state?

Physical presence for an online business with no brick-and-mortar stores anywhere = a mailing address. A forwarding company would work. I've always wondered why there are so many forwarding companies in Deleware, and now I'm starting to understand.

Alternatively, a registered agent is just someone you hire in whatever state to keep your paperwork above board. Apparently they can be hired for about $75/year.

Ah, ok. Like a mail forwarding service? Do you have one that you use/ recommend?

Re: Where to get an LLC

I am now wondering about name verification. Basically, my personal selling account was shut down many years ago. So long that it's actually closed now. I don't think that I ever had done any tax verification, therefore I don't know that I had ever added my SSN. If I tried to open a business account and used my real social, do they verify the name? Just trying to make sure that I get it all filled in right before I click Next.

phaz0rz 05-07-2018 02:40 PM

Re: Where to get an LLC

Name? no
Social? yes

Go through your tax records and make sure you don't have any previous 1099's from PP with your SSN on it.

(I missed your last post. All of my LLC's are registered in my own state, but I know it's very common to incorporate out of state.)

Re: Where to get an LLC

I'm talking Amazon. My original (non-stealth) account was just an individual account, not Pro/ Business and it was suspended at least 5 years ago. Sure wish I could sign into it to check for my SSN. But, I'm confident enough that I'm willing to take that risk and try it. I just didn't wanna get rejected due to the name not matching. I'll go for it using my stealth name.
