| | | Callidus | 04-04-2014 09:11 AM | Stocks / Share & Daytrader Hi all,
So I know nothing about the topic but want to get into and learn about how stocks work, how you invest, basic knowledge to start out with and then slowly invest some money.
I know its not something you can learn in a day but its something I have looked at doing for a while and would like some feedback / tips / hints on how to get started and understand the market.
I looked at Trading 212 where you can monitor the market live and do everything from a program whilst logged in - is the type of thing to look at?
All advise / knowledge is appreciated
:typing: |
Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader I would also look at trading websites to begin learning - I am trying to find a link of one that I used few months back...will post when I find it |

:typing: | Good entry point program, yes.
They did a couple of upgrades recently.
App is rather fun to use

I'd probably rather trade Forex currencies based on news rather than stock at this point.
I tried day trading. Take it from me, I really hated it; stressful, very demanding job. Keep your emotions off your mind and your money. Not everyone can do it.
I made some cash in it, sure, but it just wasn't worth the hassle IMO. Really changed me as a person at how I looked at things. Riches are nothing but dreams unless you come up with your own ideas.. |
Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader Forex trading is tough too - friend of mine is into it heavily and it's taking its toll on him |
| vogeltron | 05-07-2014 04:18 AM | Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader All investing in general is tough. There are no guaranteed winners.
Best thing you can do is educate yourself on your different methods of playing the markets.
Read as much commentary into the global economy, sectors etc and try to determine for yourself. Federal Reserve statements, job reports. BLS Statistics, can all determine day to day fluctuations.
There are also traders who look for certain things in charts of stocks of commodity prices. Look for key indicators. It gets quite complex, (double top, double bottom) you can Google terms like that. But this is the terminology these people talk about.
I am a junkie for this stuff. If day trading was easy I would have retired from eBay a long time ago. |

I myself have investments and have made money on penny stocks before but it's time consuming. Daytrading is pretty much a full time job because what you need to do is research and study before, during and after buying/selling stock. |

Sure there are periods where the market gets rocky but you just have to stick to your guns and learn from history, stocks just continue to grow in the long run. |

If you know people running pump and dump scams you and can get in on early than you can make money.
I made some money on one a few months ago. PHOT Grow Life I actually mentioned it on the board. Company is now being sued by the shareholders. |
| black_label | 05-09-2014 12:50 PM | Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader Yeah it's pretty much the only way you make money on them. You just have to subscribe to tons of newsletters that alot of these penny stock sites have. When you see a stock that gets highlighted by more than one of them as a "hot penny stock" buy the first day, sell the second of third. The stock will skyrocket because everyone that searches for penny stocks will be seeing their website and buying that specific stock and everyone that was in on it will sell their stocks shortly after. Playing the pump and dumps can be profitable. But it is risky. Remember you are always playing on other peoples faults, by them losing you win. It is the way of the world I agree. Nothing less than a Las Vegas Casino should you enter it in my opinion.
Game of high risk high reward. The more inside info you have from the pumpers the easier it is to get come out ahead. |
Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader Shorting is not used as much as it should be...lot of potential there with trending |

Central Banks have pumped so much money into the markets though QE programs it has really distorted the market in my opinion. I only short stocks now when if I think they are basically going to fold and go bankrupt. |
Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader True point on the pumpage but shorting with insight is fun and profitable - but risky like any other method |

My number 1 rule after getting burnt a number of times is make sure you have a stop loss. For the sake of a few hundred you can lose thousands.
And don't listen to the news, get onto trade2win for more info etc.
Psychology is a big factor, it takes years and continuous learning to be successful.
Let me know what market you're looking to trade and i'll direct you to some info/service i use or specific to them. |

| Klemantina | 01-17-2015 03:15 AM | Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader I'm using forexfactory.com, investing.com and etoro. Soon planning to switch to a better broker. My strategy is analyze graphs, look for patterns, use economic calendars, take time zones into account, know what happens in the world, never trust anyone's opinion but always take it into account, take the money out quickly if things not going according to your plan, use stop loss(not always), put only 5-20% of your money into each currency, always learn from your mistakes, keep your emotions away, always look for better strategies, keep believing in yourself even if sometimes things go bad. I would recommend using virtual money for the first 100-1000 transactions you make, when you feel ready, start with small amount of money and go bigger step by step. |

Now i'm excited to see whats going to happen next week. |

| Klemantina | 01-17-2015 08:15 AM | Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader That was a dirty move, they could have scheduled the meeting to lower the impact but they chose to do it spontaneously which makes me think that some very unethical people behind this, i bet Soros made millions that day. |

The retail sales from the xmas months have all came out very poor. Like you said the employment numbers are completely rigged. I just found out the other day if someone has two part times job then somehow they count both jobs as full time in their unemployment figures.
I am definitely with you. Physical Metals, Mining stocks, some USD cash, Swiss Francs and Singapore Dollars are my favorite place to be right now. Once Iran sanctions are lifted and they flood the market with their oil that is just sitting there then I may start looking at some of the major Oil players again, the deep sea drillers are already down like 90% they might go lower though. Definitely a buy and hold small position.
Shorting retailers or buying put options in some of the names we know that are fragile out there could be an interesting play as well. |
| vogeltron | 03-01-2016 05:56 AM | Re: Stocks / Share & Daytrader Gold looks to slowly be breaking out, Silver looks to be lagging. Bitcoin has performed well especially since last July when I got on board. Everything in my opinion is pointing to a global market crash or severe recession. Most crashes and corrections make their big moves headed into the second half of their as the confidence waivers report after report. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:12 AM. | |
