Re: anyone selling on walmart ?

I've heard it's very difficult to sell there because they mostly cater to other large corporations. I just did some reading on MPP though and apparently it's become easier to sell there in recent months, with 1000 new sellers joining in the past month. I might have to give it a try.

Yes... It is still difficult. You will need to have a registered business with your state. Mine is a LLC...

They will want to know your annual sales

and

They will review all your feedback on your reference sites.

Its not as simple as selling on Amazon or ebay. You will have webinar meetings and you will constantly need to send them updates with any changes and then some.

I would rate it a 9 of 10 on difficulty on all sites I have ever sold.

On plus site you are selling basically retail prices and profit margin is much higher then Amazon or ebay...

They told me they do extensive background checks...

If the profit margin is much higher then Amazon or ebay then it's worth the stress in setting up the account.

What does that mean? How does one do a background check on an LLC?

They can actually dig a lot, if they're willing to spend a couple of bucks. For example you can pretty much dig up any bank accounts linked to that LLC.

Yes, I actually looked into it because we need to diversify our markets. But for them to make it this difficult was a bit odd. I would think they wanted to compete with Amazon and Ebay, I mean, it's not like their third party seller's site comes even close to the volume of those two.

Re: anyone selling on walmart ?

Not only that, but there doesn't appear to be any standard third-party sellers are held to.

I've only ordered from them twice (from 3rd parties) but both times my experience as a customer was terrible and I couldn't find any place to rate the transaction or leave feedback. This is coming from someone experienced in nearly all sites that allow 3rd party sellers as both a buyer and seller.

For the average person, shopping with the 3rd parties has to be a nightmare.

Re: anyone selling on walmart ?

I’ve been selling on Walmart for 7 months now. And believe me, it’s quite challenging… and there are many requirements. However, the return I am getting here is too good to leave this marketplace.

So first thing first… I suggest, you do your research and look at your competitors. What’s your niche (what are you selling)? Is your competitor making enough revenue? This will give you a basic idea on if taking all the hassle of being on Walmart is all worth it or not. If return is not as much to your investment (money, time, and energy), look for other shopping sites. But if there are lots of customers here and there’s a big potential to make good sales, take the hassle and challenges.

Aside from Walmart, I also sell on different platforms—eBay, Amazon and on my website. So I rely on ChannelSale- a multi-channel e-commerce software solution. It makes Walmart product listing, real-time inventory management, feed optimization and order fulfillment quite easy for me.

Even if you have just one or two storefronts, I will advise you to go with these e-commerce solutions. The return is great. There are many players in the market that you can go with. However, you need to be aware of their pricing; some top names like ChannelAdvisor charge ridiculously high. You don’t want to spend too much with any long-term commitment. Look around and pick one that suits your needs and budget. Good luck

Re: anyone selling on walmart ?

It is similar to selling on Sears, they ask for reference from at least 2 of your suppliers, and if you are selling on Etsy,Ebay, they want to see what you sell and what is your feedback, they also want bank accounts in business name and where you register your business.
Walmart has recently announced a pact with Shopify, they will feature some of the shops which provide good service and products.
To compete with AMZN,they need third party sellers,so it is worth your while to apply, also if you buyer wants to pick up your item at local WMT,WMT will give you a Fed Exp label to send to her local WMT store.
I see several precious metal dealers selling gold on WMT site, also some sell prime steaks.
