Can anyone comment how sales are on this platform?

Seems they have a lot of items listed.

Traffic use to be decent. Seems super dead the last few months tho.

I can't talk for others, I'm doing awesome.

For a specific item I had thousands of views, lots of talk, no buying action. I'm going to test other items later on. It was good 1-2 yrs ago.

My wife does decently on there. An item that would sell within an hour on eBay will sell in 12hrs on Mercari in our experience. Problem is that it's too much of a social media platform so buyers all think they're supposed to message the seller trying to barter or hassle down a lower price before purchasing. I don't think she's ever sold anything without the buyer messaging her first asking her to lower the price.

EDIT: Just saw BL's post and that's pretty much our experience too, except all items listed do eventually sell.

Definitely agree with phazorz here. I sold many items (110+ feedback in 2 months), but it seems everyone messages you first wanting a mega-deal. A lot of low balling goes on there. Regardless, sales do come.

Re: Mercari Stealth

Mercari was easy to set up. My initial listing was also my sign up. Basically an email address and a phone for verification code and that was it. Will put more items up and see what the traffic is like compared to eBay for these items.. I can afford to sell this particular inventory for much less than I sell it for on eBay so I actually will welcome the low ballers.

Traffic: Sold 27 items across 2 accounts in 5-6 days. The number of sales wwas pretty good in comparison to what I do on eBay. But, what got my attention is how fast each item sold from the time I listed it. I sold almost everything I listed
Within a few hrs of listing. Some items sold in minutes.
FYI: sales were slower yesterday once the deadline for Christmas deliveries passed. So I can’t differentiate between Xmas traffic and everyday traffic yet.

Shipping: Shipped some through Mercari and some through my shipstation just for comparison. Shipping through Mercari is convenient but it’s a more expensive yet slower version of usps First Class Mail. They bill you for 15.9 oz package even if your item is much lighter. Also, It can take a couple days for Mercari tracking to show and customers can get antsy.

Payments: Had a couple packages delivered on Thurday. Both buyers left ratings and funds became immediately available in my Mercari account. I added bank same day and moved money. Got email on Friday that transfer was being processed. Woke up this morning and money was In my bank.

About the same as ebay, only you don't need a VCC.

Name
Address
Email
Phone
Bank to withdraw funds

All of the above is correct. Google voice will do on the phone.
I’m running one on an iPad mini and one on a prepaid low budget smartphone.
You can do separate user accounts I would think but, the app is much much better with features you would want and need as a seller.

I run all my accounts on VMWare via Website, and a small Tablet with Separate User Accounts + Mifi. GV does work fine as you said.

I make all my listings on the website, but eventually have to use the app to accept, deny, counter offers.

I just wanted to point out Mercari's shipping labels are a huge ripoff and should be avoided at all costs.

Agreed. It’s best to ship it on your own.

Re: Mercari Stealth

They force you to use their label on your first sale but after the buyer leaves feedback for your first sold item, you're given the option to use external shipping labels.

Just making that known for posterity's sake.

Are you using one device to and one app to log in and accept, deny, counter offers from all your accounts?

Idk what has changed, but Mercari used to let me ship without using their labels by sending a message to buyer with tracking number (gave me permission). They monitor everything, and still released funds afterwards.
