Google Caffeine update - see how your website will rank

Hi all
not sure if you guys are aware but Google are in the process of updating the way its search engine will rank websites. An update like this one has not been done on google since 2006. The update has been put into place to get results with speed in real-time, so as to address its place in step with the social networking giants.

With the surge in popularity of "real-time search" via social networking sites, Google has recognised that search engines have to deliver content at speed so this is there attempt. You can check how your website will rank before the system go's live.

I have had some promising results with the majority of my sites remaining in the same positions and a few increasing in rankings. One of my sites has dropped from the first page to page 3. Not too sure why but will figure it out.

Here are the links to check your rankings.

Google

you can also compare your results with the current google rankings

What do you guys think of the update?

Wow! Thank you for this post Gremlin

Hard to say what exactly the changes are but from the first couple of checks I did, it appears they are de-value-ing domain name relevance

example

my domain --concertposter.org fell out of the top 100 for the term -concert poster- but a blog post I did on that site is ranking higher than the previous ranking for just the domain. (the blog post had votes on digg)

It appears they are increasing the value of new-ness and Social media zing,

(meaning if your url has social media votes, they move it up +)

Just my initial take.

Don't take this as as a hard result though because that domain may have a penalty because of a reciprocal link scheme.

(domain ranks #1 in yahoo and #2 in Bing for those words, yet NOWHERE in google - therefore penalty)

Cheers!
