Mercari Help

Hello guys, so I’ve been having the worst experience with mercari over the past week or so.

Initially I created my account and was selling items, and I got carried away and made $2000 in sales on my first selling day, which I thought was great till I got struck with that restriction.

So I verified my Identity with an ID and then I provided invoices from my products and they claim I use an authorized supplier, so that is why I am suspended apparently, they claim.

Today all of my transactions have been completed, and one buyer has claimed that the item I sent was not real, I would communicate with him and try to work this out but mercari has my account suspended so I cannot even message my customers.

I am worried they are going to try to keep my money even tho it is rightfully mine, I have no issues with sending my unhappy customer a refund but since he has rated me mercari won’t even let that happen. I hate this platform and I hate their customer service.

Has anyone else ever had an experience like this and please share the outcome with me, this is a bad time to just loose 2 grand with Christmas right around the corner.

if they think you sell fa.ke stuff, they may try and keep it as they have made threats to many others and by law they can do so. either way, don't expect the suspension to magically go away just because it's christmas.

Well I don’t understand how they can legally take your money because of a suspicion. Wouldn’t they have the burden of proof just like I have the burden of proof this company owes me $2k+ I have all the necessary receipts and invoices to validate this companies debt to me and I would file for collections if they do not pay me.

you're correct. but PP can do it and has, AMZ can do it and has...etc. they have all the power so you have to be ready for that. they all know most people cant afford the time, money or resources to go after them legally.

it takes a lot of experience to understand truly how helpless we are to these companies. it is why i sell in as many marketplaces as i can and am ready to make new accounts at any time. surf the forums for a while to see how many people end up in your position.

Merc does seem to be giving people their money back from what people have said here, but the time could be 60, 90, 180 days just like any other marketplace. I have been threatened by both Merc and Posh that if they catch me selling products they don't allow, regardless of what it is, they will happily keep my funds forever. then i would have to take them to court...

Update:
So today mercari “Account Specialist” notified me on their god awful in app help (after 48 hours...) and they say they will hold my funds for 60 days then I will receive a notification and will be able to do a direct deposit and then they will close my account. This is good news I guess I’m just worried they may close my account before this date and then I’d be screwed. I was going to send the Palo Alto office a “demand letter” as the first action in a course of events to go after my money, would this still be advisable or should I back off. I hear people saying they delayed it again. Would a demand letter via certified mail be a good option to establish the debt Incase they try to delete my account anyway? I’m probably going to do anyway just would like some other insight.

It won't make them do anything, but it it would help you moreso to have the record of proof. The best you can do is document everything. That's what I do for my lawy.ers should anything happen where anyone or any company tries to claim they magically have no record of me.

Merc will do whatever they want. Just make sure you stay professional and keep copies of everything they tell you. If they said 60 days, wait the full time and then follow up.
