Website Design

I am looking to create a professional e-commerce website, I wanted people opinions on what websites are good to off source your project. I've heard of elance.com, and odesk. What would you recommend?

I have used Odesk.com and RentACoder.com. Odesk was definitely the best. You make a post and you have people applying within minutes. I would definitely reject all the bidders who require money up front. I find that the people I pay up front answer their emails less frequently and care a little less than those who haven't received any money yet.

I've used elance successfully a few times. Though I find they are pretty expensive in general compared to digitalpoint people.

I have gotten 19 designs from ODesk and paid on average $25 per design.

wow $25 is great - I think the odesk freelancers are from the philippines.

I currently have all of my assistants from the philippines - well educated - great prices and they speak good english.

I would also suggest to post a listing in the getafreelancer.com website - used them on multiple occasions and you will get many bids within hours.

$25?? Do you have any idea how many hours goes into photoshopping a new website design and then creating creating an html css template out of it? I won't take less than $1000 and I still feel like I'm getting ripped off.

I don't think it's $25, if so it's probably one of those free templates available online and they make little changes to it.

If you get a copy of dream weaver it already comes with templates. You can also copy the source code of any webpage and paste it into dreamweaver and then customize from there.

It must be. There is a reason why designers ask for seemingly large amounts. It can be so hard to figure out and fulfill what someone else's vision is. Especially when the customer isn't even sure what their vision is. A lot of your work just gets dumped in the trash.
