| eternity4u | 12-31-2010 02:15 PM | Has someone tried play com?
I know it's going to be very quited comparing to Amazon and ebay. But my cousin sells thier. For pro trade account thier do a credit check. Is that for ID reason? What about those who have bad credit.
Have someone tried Play Com |

Have someone tried Play Com | You tried it yet? Did they do credit check?
Do you know if it's possible to create new listings in Play? |

Do you know if it's possible to create new listings in Play? | You are not allowed to create new listings on Play.com. You can sell your stuff under existing listings only. I got in touch with them regarding this problem because i had many items unsold after my amazon and ebay accounts had been blocked. I got a verbal refusal "this is a permanent limitation for all sellers". Ok, I started selling what i found available. After 2 months i checked once again and was suprised that they had extended their stock. Needed items were offered by a strange seller with no rating. Those were top SKUs but i haven't sold any yet since i listed them. I keep selling different stuff there but am not happy with results at all. Play.com is suitable for getting rid of smth, it will not deliver big money to you but still i would advise to try them. Probably it depends on what u are selling. They focus on DVDs and other media stuff, i focus on elecronics goods. Also my Play.com account was blocked after 1st month of sales. They said I had sold too many items and wanted me to provide them with my suppliers invoices, id and brief description of what my business was. I thought i had no chance because i had had severe experience with dealing with amazon and ebay. Anyway i decided to try and uploaded some invoices and copy of my ID. After 3 weeks waiting i got in touch with them once again and they asked to prove somehow that my goods were authentic, the reason for that was "only f_a_k_e could cost so cheap". I emailed them some explanations saying smth like "We had to close down our real store front because rent had gone up and therefore now we need to sell everything as quick as possible, price didn't really matter". That was enough and my play.com account was reopened. Probably 100% feedback helped. I requested an urgent disbursement and now i keep selling slowly. |
| MERMAID | 01-18-2011 12:37 PM | Hi dire your on player.com IS with your name or IS a ghost account? |
| oompaloompa | 01-19-2011 10:45 AM | yes I on play.com uk, boxsets and electronics are worth selling, it is slow, nowhere near ebay sales, 2-10 sales a week, margins low too.... |
| Red X | 01-19-2011 10:46 AM | I hope to sell on there soon |
| MERMAID | 01-20-2011 03:14 AM | 10 on player.com ,15 or 20 on amazon , 5 or 10 eBay every day IS not bad ;) |

It's quite easy to do well there but be ready to get blocked. Even if you can provide them with all the necessaries they ask for just bear in mind it will take much time to be cosidered properly. Their UK support service costs more than 1 GBP per minute, also as for me those assistants are absolutely non professional and really annoying. They want you to email all your queries to them but as the result i have a big collection of automatically generated replies which are not helpful at all. |
| eternity4u | 01-20-2011 08:46 AM | Well my account has been blocked. They are asking for feedback, i told them how can i make a buyer leave me a feedback of they do not bother with it.
I have all the tracking number for the orders, from ebay and amazon experience i learnt to not to post anything without tracking has this is handy
Also i sell items that are chaep due to the fact i did not need them and wanted to get rid off.
I have never ever dealth with phake not i intend to, not worth the hassle nor i believe in it
Customer service was hopeless, kept going email buyers and tell them to leave feedback.
DUH HOW CAN I WHENI DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE ACCOUNT
Has anyone got some input in this? |

Do they hold it like amazon for a period of time before you can disburse it to your bank account or you lost your sales money? |
| dburnside | 02-19-2011 03:13 PM | yes they hold it for 90 days, but i found i could withdraw after 30 |
| Metalius | 03-30-2011 03:05 PM | I'm trying to list on play.com but get the following message.
"Your item cannot be sold via PlayTrade at this time.
Sorry, but the sale of some items via PlayTrade is restricted".
Is this because I'm registered as a basic seller and not a protrader or because of vero? |
| Metalius | 03-30-2011 03:08 PM | Got a few office 2010 to shift. |
Yep being a basic seller you can only sell stuff like CD's, DVD's Books etc, I doubt you can sell software |
| Metalius | 03-30-2011 03:12 PM | Figures, I'm not sure if it's worth subscribing - do you know if you can downgrade the account after becoming a protrader?? I think I read somewhere about being credit checked aswell? |
| oompaloompa | 03-30-2011 03:19 PM | Im am a basic trader,
boxsets are worth selling,
cds, dvds not so much re profits,
I did not think it was worth subscribing, as I only come across the said goods in palettes now and again.
traffic not as good as ebay, but I think it is almost as good as amazon, but still ok as an extra smaller income source...
I dont recommend you sell anything other than legit software, if you upgrade. |
| Metalius | 03-30-2011 03:23 PM | Like I say Oompa, I've only got a few copies so think I will shift them elsewhere. Whats the traffic and type of customers like over there? |
| oompaloompa | 03-30-2011 03:29 PM | well there are sellers like you and I, the pros, then I think play.com sells it own stuff, Ive been on over a year and Ive sold about 25 items, but I am not indicative, as I go on there when I need to sell something, I tend to get multiple copies of stuff and so I put a few on ebay and a few on play, and lets say the ebay outsell about 5 to 1, I would never sell multiple copies of any type of software, cd, dvd etc without supplier info , which I have got. Ive been asked for it by ebay before, but they were cool with it, play hasnt asked yet.
best thing with all these sites is to check out sellers and feedback, to gauge it.... |
| Metalius | 03-30-2011 03:34 PM | So it's to Amazon, what ebid is to ebay then. Well I will forget about subscribing and just shift the odd bit here and there like yourself. |

From what you've said about Play it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as Amazon. You can make big profits on Amazon if you know what you're doing, much more than Ebay, and less work,
Agreed that it might be worth it as an extra iron in the fire. |
| oompaloompa | 03-30-2011 04:23 PM | I think what I read on here scared me off amazon tbh..I got approved but didnt really go any further yet. funnily enough I got approved on restricted catagory, without having ever sold on amazon before..
I find ebay non linked accounts easy peasy, amazon is different to start over if something goes wrong according to forumers... |
| Axcend | 03-30-2011 07:31 PM | wish there was something like this for the USA :/ |

But once you get a good account up and running then I think it's better than Ebay for a number of reasons |
| smooger | 06-22-2012 12:55 PM | Does anyone know if the play bank account name has to match the real name on the bank account? Many Thanks | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:30 AM. | |
