Started my own website a month ago.

Let my start out by introducing myself. Im Manny, in the US Navy, based in GA. Im 21 and speak spanish and farsi. I really really enjoy this website. it feels as though most here can relate to each other( not only about being banned but about making profit). Aspkin, youre really generous. Youve given a lot of people hope. Chris, youre a cool dude.

I opened an ebay account august, got banned 2 days later. I tried to buy .99 ebooks then sell expensive items. Stupid of me. i didnt know ebay was nazi. What can i say?

Well. after about 20 emails to ebay. it was reinstated yesterday. i couldnt believe it. although to be totally honest i have to say its STILL better than DOD admin. (seriously it took a joint chief of staff 6 months to fix a mistake in his record that said he was killed in action)

I started my own website towards the end of august. I set it up with yahoo and built it myself. ive had about 40 people look at it...

i work either all night, or all day for the navy. so this whole thing is a part time job im trying to start up.

I need help. what information do you need to be able to give me the best advice?

thanks guys.

navy pays pretty good. I wouldnt even fool with Ebay , not even worth the stress vs the pay from the navy.. If I were you I would just focus on your website

fallingforme 12-05-2007 04:14 PM

Yeah the navy does pay pretty good. But i just cant seem to get any traffic to my site. So im going to have to try one of the many things you and aspkin talk about. Dont know which though

Chris Hanson 12-05-2007 04:16 PM

Well with my website I was listed on 1st page of google within 1 month

fallingforme 12-05-2007 04:24 PM

Wow that sounds really good. How much traffic do you get a day? Which method do you mainly use?

aspkin 12-05-2007 05:27 PM

fallingforme, do you mean you use Yahoo shopping for your website? A type of Shopping cart? If you do, that could be your problem there.

fallingforme 12-05-2007 06:01 PM

yes i intend to use yahoo for my shopping. but im open to suggestions. im currently using the paypal shopping cart. i hate paypal though.

Ok. my supplier told me i can use anything on his website . So i think im going to use "WinHTTrack" to copy the whole website and change a little here and there to make it my own. What im supposed to do is download the website, then upload it with filezilla.

But will yahoo "sitebuilder" even allow me to use what i download?

Does anyone here know how to copy a website and then republish it?

aspkin 12-05-2007 07:03 PM

You'll need the database too. A bit more work.

I would suggest using Shopping Cart Software and Ecommerce Solutions: CS-Cart. Free downloadable trial. shopping cart. They've the best search engine friendly shopping cart that looks great and has tons of features. It cost $200 but its well worth it in the long run. I just started using it with a new site of mine.

And you'll probably want to get away from yahoo shopping... they're actually one of the worst shopping carts, and hardest to use.

I would suggest using a godaddy hosting, 5.95 a month and cs-cart.
