Cs-cart

WOW. I've found what ive been looking for. This whole time, when people said cs-cart was a great shopping cart i thought it was only a shopping cart and not the whole website. Ok i have a few questions about it.

After i download the software, im supposed to install it on the server or something? I dont know how to do that.

Do i still have to get someone to process the credit cards for me?

thanks guys.

Yes you have to upload the files to your server, and go to install.php I believe it was. Its easy stuff, it comes with a very nice manual.

And yes you can use Paypal, authorize.net, checkout among other merchant gateways.

awesome thanks Aspkin.

Let me get this straight, i must get someone else to process my orders for me, such a paypal correct? becasuse cs-cart wont do it for me right?

If thats the case, who do you use? who do you suggest?

aspkin 12-09-2007 05:10 AM

Right again... CS-Cart has gateways setup for Paypal, google checkout and other merchants. All you have to do is enter you details, like a Paypal email and it's good to go.

I wish I would have known of that software before i built my website

aspkin 12-09-2007 08:31 PM

Eck.. well all I did was some research on Search engine friendly shopping carts. It took some time but cs-cart.com was the best I found.

This site really helped: Search for Shopping Cart Reviews

I dont' recommend ASP or ASPX shopping carts. PHP shopping carts are much easier to work with and has a lot more support. PHP carts all the way.

fallingforme 12-10-2007 01:49 AM

well i downloaded the cs cart trail. lets see how it goes.

I want to use google checkout, but people have to have a google checkout account to use it.... and paypal is horrible for me because what if my ebay account gets the ban hammer? My paypal got suspended once because i was selling high risk items and they needed my fingerprints and DNA

You could try Merchant Plus, I use it and it works well for buyers. All they need is a credit card. It's a lot like Google checkout, but a lot more flexible.

It's some what of a pain to sign up with, but it's worth it.

I'm having a LOT of trouble installing this cart! First my server complained of misconfiguration, then when I finally got it installed, the buttons don't work. Any ideas?

aspkin 02-09-2008 08:12 PM

Emm, I don't have the instructions in front of me. You may want to contact their live support; they're pretty quick to answer specific questions.

It's a excellent cart though, I'm about to use it again with another site I'm working on.

Woo Hoo!!

So I switched to CS cart...and went live last night...

This morning I woke up to THREE new orders!! This cart is AWESOME!

mantisinc 03-04-2008 12:36 PM

Did you customize your cart at all? To me it appears to be fairly hard to reskin/customize the template.

COMPLETELY recustomized. Doesn't even LOOK like a CS cart. It's really easy if you know css (which is extremely easy to learn). Their forum members are really good about helping people out too. If you use firebug for firefox, it will tell you exactly where in the script you need to change.

I'd be happy to help you with it...(no charge, just a nice person:p ).

wow that is nice.
so you selling things you would have originally sold on ebay?

mantisinc 03-06-2008 01:38 AM

Oh it's CSS based is it? I didn't realise. I had a look around the template files and there were so many (I',m pretty sure I'm thinking of cs-cart anyway.).

I'l have to go experiment :)

aspkin 03-08-2008 06:47 PM

It comes with a lot of different skins as well. About 16 I believe. :)

mantisinc 03-09-2008 08:07 AM

I think I'l play around with a nulled version before I buy.
Or, do they offer a trial download?

aspkin 03-09-2008 06:34 PM

Just the demo I think. It works just the same though.

Pretty much. I'm also selling them on ebay. But I am also selling completely safe, non-vero, run of the mill items (but very cute)
