How do you make a blog appear in google search results?
 

I write a blog in wordpress, blogger or where ever, how do I make it appear in google search results? I've got to index keywords or something, how do I do that?

Hi Madsam - great question - Basically when you create a free blog with wordpress - blogger etc then you are given a unique url - you need to treat the url the same as you would your own site - so you need to bookmark it - backlink it etc - have it optimised onsite also.

One of the advantages of using free blogs is that the primary domain, - so for a wordpress blog it will be wordpress and blogger will be blogger.com etc, has good authority in the eyes of the search engines - this will allow you to rank much faster.

Its also a good idea to link back to your website should you have one as the links are valuable.

This also applies to articles and their likings.

What are backlinks?

A backlink is a link back to your website from another - so you may have come accross a number of these without realizing what the seo benefits are -

A backlink will normally be text which is clickable and once clicked it will take you to the website - For users this is very helpful as if you quote a website then you can leave a link which the user only needs to click instead of typing it out in the address bar -

for search engines - If a website holds your backlink then search engines will look at it as if the website is voting or vouching for your site - so the more backlinks you create is essentially telling the search engines that many sites are voting for your site - Now backlinks can be created to any url so be it a blog url or a private site it will act in the same way.

Bookmarking on the other hand is a form of backlinking which will provide you with seo benefits but you will also get targeted traffic from people searching within the bookmark sites - Bookmarking is always done differently and the best way to find out how to bookmark is by actually going to the bookmark website - sign up and follow the instructions -

Honestly its easy - you just need to put what you learn into practice - one of the biggest downfall for many

So the point of using the blog on wordpress, or whereever... is to create an additional backlink to your own site? The higher the ranking of the blog helps the rank of the site?
