Phone your ISP and ask if your IP address is dynamic or static.

If it is dymanic then changing or resetting your router can change the IP.

I am almost positive your IP stays the same. Seems to me that is why I didn't use them

If you change the router the IP will change as well. I have also AT&T and do it all the times to get a different IP.

Unlike time warner cable at&t doesn't have a specific mac that is needed in order to connect to their network.
